    Real hypothetical question

How do you guys carry your load-out if lets say Rodney King pt2 happened in LA. No were not talking SHTF, just looting and sparse rioting and the government still has control and you just need to defend your front door. Admittedly there was a time not so long ago I would have said "I'm gonna mall ninja out like you wouldn't believe." But now it would be a duty belt with a holstered 9mm with 4 mags, 3 spare 30 AR mags a blade and flash light. My hardware would be a 12g first and the AR on slung on my back. Over kill? What would you guys pack?

That seems like way overkill, if you're going to have a long arm just choose one. I wouldn't want to be running around with all that gear. I probably wouldn't rush out to defend my doorstep unless really necessary, sitting out with a rifle by yourself could get you shot pretty easily I would think.

If you get weighted down by your gear you won't get some new furnitures or electronics!

IMO that situation I'm thinking I wouldn't even leave the house. Just hunker down and strategically place several weapons around the house so wherever you are one can be accessible very quickly along with the sidearm that is currently on your.

Ok I need to re-word. When I say front door I really mend "home" in general. But so far so good I'm feeling 2 longarms may not be so good. My initial intention was to unload the 12g quickly at whom ever come through my front door and the switch to the ar for any looter who survided the onslaught of 12g.

Create a choke point inside or outside your home. I'd want to concentrate my fire and be able to clog the channel in which I'm funneling them in. It slows the advance of the mob, and gives me time to reload.

I'd snipe them afar with my XS7 .308, Mossberg 590a1 loaded with 00B w/ bayonet, and switch to G17, and worst case scenario bayonet 'em if I run out of ammo. Unfortunately I don't own a Carbine/Semi auto rifle

If there was serious looting and craziness all around. Like you said duty belt with a few handgun mags and holstered gun (of course) and your choice of rifle or shotgun. But prolly not both. Closing and locking all doors/windows, even closing shades and such to "black out" so that you can peek out cracks in blinds, or lift the corner of a window shade to keep watch outside. Also like you said flashlight, and i would have my pepper spray on me and knife all on belt. Also i might make some coffee... if that were to happen idk if falling asleep is a good idea!

If I had the misfortune of living in LA during this scenario (or just plain misfortune of living in LA at all), my loadout would be as follows:

-Inside my house/apartment: keep a Mossberg 590A1 loaded with 8 rounds of Winchester 12 Ga 00 Buckshot near my person at all times wherever I go inside my home. I would have my M1 Carbine with 30 round magazine loaded with soft point ammo next to my bed for backup. Also, my Glock 22C with 2 pre-ban 15 round magazines, mag in the gun, 1 round chambered, with the magazines loaded with Winchester .40 S&W 180 Gr JHP's, this setup being another go-to backup gun.

-Outside the home/In public place: Wear my Israeli Mar-om Dolphin Lv IIIA Bullet-Resistant Concealable Vest with plain clothes, keep a Glock 22C in my inner coat pocket, with 10 round magazine with JHP's in the gun, round chambered, and 2 more 10 round mags on me, with more glock magazines in my car. I would only have spare mags and glock ammo in the car, since if there is any major confrontation, I intend to fight only to escape harm and flee from the rest if there are more combatants. As for the use of 10 rounders, if I have to shoot, reload, and lose one of my mags in the chaos, I won't kick myself for losing irreplaceable pre-ban "hi-caps..."

This thread reminds me of this one about a thread about an article about SHTF uses for handguns

it was SHTF for Reginald Denny. back to your question; i guess they'd call it over kill if you didn't need it all and under kill if you did and didn't have it all. that's why folks try to get a well rounded group of guns for different tasks, different situations. i'd venture to say most of us here would be better armed than the fellow in "The Road" was in a small or large SHTF situation....

I'm roughly two blocks from where Denny got beat up its not as crazy as its made out to be although the mid to late 80's was a completely different story. *As the LAPD helicopter passes over with the spot light on lol*.

When the riots happened it was groups of idiots attacking small businesses no individual houses were targeted.

With that being said every house has bars on the windows and doors. If I was faced with a mob assaulting my home there would be an immediate "fatal funnel" in which I would be able to hold back a large number of people (visualize an old western shoot out with the bad guys shooting out of the windows). Although I'd be more worried about accidentially hitting my neighbors across from me if I did have to open fire.

Unless someone was driving a SWAT team battering ram with a towchain ready to pull my gate off the hinges I wouldn't be too worried about my property being damaged.

590A1 at the front door P229 on my hip. Savage and AR in the safe (with the door open).

                        Looters don't run towards gunfire.

Beretta 92F holstered with plenty of mags.

                            Remington 870 with 00 buck.

                            Nothing else needed.

I think you would want to do what would make you most prepared but also the least conspicuous so as not to attrack any unwanted attention to yourself or appear to be a desireable target.
