Well considering I'm away from the big city enough that it would take damn near total SHTF to ever need to take action I would do no more than set my .45 next to my laptop and continue to surf the web/watch the news. Total SHTF, that's a different thread, and somewhat self explanatory.

Glock G19 with G17 standard capacity magazines with +2 baseplates. Two extra magazines. And probably my AR and 870 strategically placed nearby JIC. Dont need to lug them around the house unless you're already being attacked.WTS 10/22 Lasermax laser CHEAP!!!Comment

i am a bit far outside the city to be caught up in any looting, so at best, just load up the magazines for my .22lr rifle, if i need anything more than a .22lr in a suburb, i'll bring out the mosin.
and one good thing, i live in a cul-de-sac so all looters will have to come from 1 direction, which i have direct line of sight to from rooftop or even front yard.Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... I've thought about this type of situation long and hard, it's not something that justifies a rifle IMO to defend the house against a few looters. I think I'd be just fine carrying a machete and a hammer in the house. I would place a couple of pistols in the house though in case I needed them in a pinch though.-POLICESTATE,

Waaay overkill. Looters are looking for easy, empty targets. Then you have those roving bands of idiots just looking to beat people up for no good reason, but those are mostly people in their cars or just on the streets so if you're stuck out there you are SOL. Good thing there are enough CCWers to protect good people from thugs... oh wait, no there aren't!
At home, first thing I'd do is stay indoors. I'd definitely have a 12ga on hand, and possibly a sidearm if it was getting really bad in my area. You don't want to be armed to the teeth and sitting out in the open, that's when gang bangers decide it's really cool to do a drive-by to finally get to use those illegal firearms they have. Unless you own a store, it didn't seem like you had a good reason to get in a prolonged gunfight."I sell propane and propane accessories."Comment

Lots of folks who look "up to no good" may be sniped for any reason or no reason at all, in the coming times. A .22 rifle with standard velocity hollowpoints is good for this.
Edit: Because I found it, here it is, off of Wikipedia...
"Bobby Green (a truck driver), Titus Murphy, Terri Barnett (boyfriend and girlfriend), and Lei Yuille (a dietitian), who had been watching the events on TV, came to Denny's aid. All four are black. Denny eventually regained consciousness and dragged himself back into the cab, driving away from the scene slowly and erratically;[8]. Green, himself a truck driver, boarded Denny's truck and took over at the wheel, driving him to the hospital"
Anyone "not my Tribe" will have to be on their best behavior, but tribe does not mean race or skin color necessarily. These folks put their asses on the line to help Denny because he was a truck driver and they were too.Last edited by SOCMOB; 06-09-2010, 2:55 AM.Comment

This is one of the first real security/military defensive tactics I have read on here. My hats off to you jdewolf. You have either actual experience/training or did your homework. Funneling the bad guys to a target area +1. Wait until the verdict comes down from the BART Officer trial. If he's acquitted then some people may have to use some of these tactics mentioned here, depending on where you live.Comment

If we had another RKII like you said in the area where I lived, I would stay inside my home if I couldn't leave the area in time. I would keep a low profile (close drapes, keep lights off or very dim). I would likely move some furniture to block likely entry points and I would load up everything I owned in the safe room designated as a fall back (which is where my safe is also located). I don't think it's unreasonable at that point to keep two long arms near you. When one runs out, you are talking about a "New York reload" by going to a second weaon. Many think this is quicker than trying to reload the weapon in hand. Who knows what may happen. I'm not saying to nail plywood around the windows and doors but it can't hurt to have the stuff you own loaded with several in arms reach at all times. Just be very careful with loaded firearms.RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.Comment
