I feel that anytime someone uses something good they do or have done to defend their character it is a travesty. I'm not saying you are a bad person; just that you make yourself seem that way by using that as a tool to defend yourself. Just like when someone says something and then says, "No Homo." If you have to defend yourself it signals thet you are worried about what someone may think about the things you say or do. Props to you for doing good things for people; just don't use it as a badge of honor. It diminishes it's value.
LOL, now that you've said it I should of! (first comment)

I know what you mean, but I wasnt using it as a tool, just a gesture of good faith from accuzation that Im NOT a good person.
I'd say we learned something from this:
    Dont jump to conlcusions

You may have great experiances with wild sports but many people have not. You need to just except that and stop trying to convince people that they are wrong. Just because you love the store doesn't mean everyone else has to. Mif_slim sounds like he had the same customer service experiance as I did and many others did.

Some stores for whatever reason work for some people and obviously Wild Sports does enough business to stay in business all these years. I personally do not care for their attitude or past service to me but that is me and not someone else. For those that seem to have a good relationship with the store good luck to them but the rest of us chose not to support a business we do not fell comfortable with or did not get good service from. I am a 35 year resident of Orangevale and buy my weapons elsewhere as stated earlier in this thread. There is also another big issue with Wild Sports but that is not for discussion here.

It would be pretty cool if we could have a thread / sub forum that lists all the different gun shops sorted by area and allowed calgunners to rate the stores and leave comments of their experiences. as long as they could only post ONCE to vote, it would be a very good way to gauge the stores

So many stores and so many opinions...

I'll add this as a suggestion to Calguns as well.

Heres my short and sweet version from my own experiences:

          In the sacramento area:

wild sports - (C) prices are either great or high, service is hit and miss-- better at the shotgun counter than at the handgun counte. DROS take forever... not because its hard, because they are SLOOOOOOOW. Ammo limit sux, but at least they had some when others didnt. Lots of stuff, but you can expect to be offended by the laziness of staff at times and be delighted by their efforts other times... no idea why??

River City Guns - (A) Nice guys if you dont waste their time, fair selection, they abide by the legal PPT transfer fee of $35 max. since its in city of sac, have to register any ammo sales... but not their fault so dont punish them for that. Have some used stuff too. I wish it were out where we could browse it more easily ( like the old sac armory used to have ).

Just guns (* only been there twice--- C) They were very polite, but had HIGH prices and nearly no ammo. In fact, I am confident that I have more ammo in my garage than they had in their store. There was a young girl working there once that simoply had no idea what she was doing, but made an effort to show you everything you asked for at least.

Sacramento Black Rifle (did they close down? -- only been there twice--- B-) seemed very polite and helpful, I had a product break and after some discussion, it got replaced and he made it right. Selection is slim, but I guess they do alot of ordering? VERY cool idea to have a workbeanch for customers to do builds and get help there.

Action Guns (C) Small place but clean and well organized. Make/sell their own ammo too. Gun prices are high, the staff are very polite and helpful. Biggest downside for me... their PPT fee is $75... $25 DROS + $50 handling fee (law says cannot charge more than $35 TOTAL) - this store does not follow the law.

Cordova shooting center (and range) -- (B+) nice staff, eager to answer your questions and happy to pull out stock to let you fondle. slim selection, but generally low prices. PPT fee is the legal max of $35. Generally have wide selection of ammo on shelf, but prices a little high (its a range afterall). OLLs sold and friendly.

Cordova Guns (not the range, little shop on sunrise blvd)-- (C-) polite staff, small shop. Prices are high but have a few interesting guns in there. Norinco SKS for example. Reloading supplies avail, prices are so-so. No OLLs , dont sell em and wont discuss transferring em either. They only do transfers a couple days a week?-- annoying since they are open 5. I think they generally dont want to do them and hope no wants to. OK to browse and buy little things, but guns... not so much.

The Gun Room (C-) -- In the past, I found their service to be rude. Infact, I have long porposed to people that they should go to the gun room and look at thier stock, waste the stores time and then go across street to wild bills and buy what they want. In the past year, their staff seem a little more polite (the younger guys are actually more professional than the older guys??? go figure) I only now give them a C due to their PPT fees ($36 when law says $35 is max??) and their prices are high.

Wild bills in Elk Grove (A) -- prices are not the cheapest, but he will work with you within reason. Just be polite and never mention the internet. They are very friendly and polite staff. Just a little short handed sometimes so be patient. They carry OLLs and PPT them as well for $35.

JK Supply - (B+) not alot stocked, but he does alot of order based sales. Ive never bought a firearm from (yet) but have prchased some merchandise and his service was great. Stand up guy and worth the drive.

          * Sportsmans warehouse in rocklin- (* B) -- big store... big gun wall, takes forever to get helped (unless you go durring week and work hours). Kind lof like a mini-cabelas without all the great prices. Folks are friendly... I just dont consider it a "gun shop" so I try to keep my purchases to smaller shops. Lots of accessories and huntin stuff though. Follow the law and only charge the legal limit of $35 max for PPT.

          * TDS Guns-- (no grade yet) I have not been here yet but will make the trip out to visit and buy something. Why??? They advertise on Michal Savage's radio show 650AM.

Interesting...I've only had good experiences at Wild Sports. I recently purchased a Beretta 92 from them and something else ID -wise was needed for my paperwork to be finished, they gave me a polite call about it the next day and told me they would need it before I can get the gun. Their prices seem pretty good to me as well overall. Yes, the limit on ammo sucks, but that started due to the hoarding during the election I believe and hasn't stopped, which is stupid.
Fallujah had become a magnet for foreign jihadists and there were several thousand in the city who had come to make martyrs of themselves, to die while killing as many Americans as possibleAt each house I said a prayer, 'Please God get me out of this one.' When I come out of the house, I thank Him, light up a cigarette and move on to the next onesigpic

Store attitudes often change with staff turnover unless the owner take a big hand in day to day operations. And then most of the time the odds are he is micromanaging and that creates grumpy staff or he is dictating and that leads to bad service and a "I don't give a flying f--- attitude". Few owners are professional retail managers trained to sense what is going on and adjusting store policy within limits to eliminate problems and attract more customers. The goal of any good manager is to make as much money as possible while attracting new customers, keeping current customers, and wherever possible wooing back old customers. The customer isn't aways right but you need to make him feel that he won even if he lost going out the door.

So just an update for you guys to clear up some FUD. I went into Just Guns today and the owner of Just Guns is NOT the husband of the current owner of Wild Sports.

Apparently it was the owner of GREAT GUNS that was the former owner of Wild Sports.

was just in Just Guns today and the owner seemed pretty nice. Showed me a couple of guns and some safes and answered my questions. Probably will earn some of my money in the future on a safe and maybe other things. I was looking at the level of customer service and today I would have to give them an "A".

Yeah they have good CS, but their prices are too high. Their Glocks were all in the $580 range and I got quoted $850 for a Walther P99.
