    Am I being unreasonable?

About 3 weeks ago, after saving up for a few months, I purchased a part for my Saiga 12 directly from the manufacturer (a small mom & pop style shop).

Their website is fairly terrible and doesn't send out receipts or shipping notices so after about 10 days I called to check the status, the nice lady who answered told me that all orders were shipping out that day and that I should receive it in 3 to 5 days. Waited another 7 or so days without receiving it and started calling again, but got no answer so I sent off an email. That same day I got an email response that it was shipping out that day and included a tracking number.

I received it today and went to their website to look at the install instructions, and that's when i noticed they were having a memorial day sale! The product that I received that same morning was now $35 cheaper than what I paid for.

Now had they shipped it when I ordered it I would chalk it up to bad timing, but the fact that they strung me along for 3 weeks and dropped the price the same day I received it made me quite unhappy. I sent them a friendly email this morning thanking them for the product and complimenting it's quality but also nicely mentioning the price drop. I was hoping for a refund of the difference or at least credit w/ the company toward other products they make, but was told to go pound sand.

I feel like this is horrible customer service and makes me want to return the product ASAP if that's how they treat their customers but figured I would ask you folk for an unbiased position.

    So what would you do??
Return it and do business elsewhere?
Return it and place a new order at the lower price?
Suck it up and move on? $40 isnt much but it's lunch for a week or so.

Thanks for reading, just typing all this out is already making me feel a little better.

Its not unreasonable but when adjusted for return shipping, you save $15, so not worth it. Just hammer them in the thread and email them the link and tell them we are over 50k strong and listen to company reviews.

Considering their poor performance in shipping the first part I would not expect a timely refund (if you ever got one) or a timely shipment of a part at the lower price. If you like the part, keep it and move on. You should tell us who they are so we at least have a heads up if any of us ever want to buy their products.

Most gun shops have a restocking fee, and often shipping charges are non-refundable plus you will have to pay to ship the part back on your own dime.

Also, regardless of their customer service, if you thought the price was fair when you bought it the fact that it is lower today shouldn't change anything. If you waited for the sale to buy, you would probably be still waiting for your part in the mail today.

So yeah I think you are being a bit unreasonable Just take future business elsewhere.

First off thank you all for the level-headed perspectives, it is much appreciated.

The company is Chaos (http://www.chaosus.com/). Their Saiga 12 rails are pretty much the most expensive ones out there but the Cadiz Gunworks guy says they are the only ones worth buying. So I saved up and got them.

I'm going to keep the rails and not ever deal with Chaos again. I was planning on ordering some other parts from them but will not be doing so now. I have not installed the rails, but from a cursory inspection they do look very nice and well made/designed.

              Thanks,
              KRS Juan

                That'd be pretty douchebaggy.

OP - yes, you are being unreasonable. Unless they have a price match policy, I wouldn't expect the difference to be reimbursed. You thought the price was good enough when you bought it, so why do you think you should get it for less now?

I would make a post about it on the Internet, but that is just me.

that is garbage, some companies have no understanding of the concept of goodwill. Sure they got you, but that will end up costing them far more in the future. Sorry to hear that but now you know who to avoid like the plague when you need something.

it didn't hurt to ask for the discount; but don't be angry with the results....

Agreed. There have been many times when I purchased a product only to find it on sale soon after.

Me personally..I'd demand a refund and find a comparable product...that's me.

If you really like it then just keep it and call it a lesson learned. Since you indicated you saved for the purchase I'll take it you don't have credit? Check there return policy before you do this..but why not return then buy at the current price?

I recently bought a new Toyota Corolla at the end of March. Since I was able to negotiate the base price down low I decided to purchase the pre-paid maintenance thing...4 years 55K miles, they send you coupons to bring it in when you hit a certain mileage or age. Seems pretty cool to me..I don't have to hand them money for the next 3-4 years..

A couple days after I bought the plan I saw a commercial on TV saying they are giving away a 2year 25K mile package away for free with the purchase of a new Toyota vehicle. After seeing this I went back to the dealership to complain and the salesperson gave me the same line about how things change for either the better or worse for the customer. Begrudgingly I accepted it..it's called free market..sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.
