Just got a bizarre burn from hot brass...

This was so weird I had to share it.

I'm sure most of us have done the 'hot brass boogie', where hot brass is ejected up and into your collar, down your back, etc.. I've had it happen many times myself. I've even completed a course of fire during a steel match with a piece of .40 brass jammed between my brow and glasses (only took a few times to get me to wear a closed collar shirt and cap, even at indoor ranges!).

Went out for a practice session yesterday, after 100 or so rds I got that old "ouch that's hot" sensation again...this time on my chin. OK, no big deal...except the dang .45 case STUCK to my chin. I pulled it off and it took some skin with it...

Got home and (almost) forgot about it...but here's what greeted me in the mirror today... if you look close you can see the primer/case gap...

Ouch. Rifle brass is even worse. My funny storry is that while taking an Appleseed and in the sitting position on my camping pad for a sleeping pad, I felt something like a rattlesnake bit me in the behind. It turned out someones hot brass landed on my sleeping bag pad, rolled down the slight slope from my weight and rolled into the jeans and got lodged between my jeans and bottom. It hurt and left a nice scar. I'd take a picture but even I wouldn't want to see that. It makes for a nice story and my girlfriend got a good laugh when she saw the scar and asked where I got it.
RIP Louis Awerbuck. I miss you and your training.

Time for you to grow some facial hair. Keep a small barrier between your face and the brass.

The case actually stuck to your face!?!? lol

Worst I've had was a .223 down the back, burned me in 3 different spots.
If it was a snake, it would have bit me.

The ladies and I have had our fair share of hott brass.....which is why you will rarely if ever see me with a spaghetti strap or v neck or low cut shirt at a range....no bueno!

The super sucky part is knowing its there and it hurts and is burning, but you gotta put down the weapon calmly and in a safe direction, in some places take the mag out and clear the action, THEN remove it....owie!

Ouch! So it melted enough of your skin to make the case stick? Wow. . . I mean we've all been hit with hot brass before that's a bit much! Guess I will have to start bringing some Neosporin to the range.

I second this. Proper facial insulation can also serve as a soup strainer.

I got hit in the forehead once and it left a bump, but that's bizzare.
