Anybody use DampRid in a safe?

I have silica gel canisters in my safe right now as a dessicant. I was walking around a hardware store and saw DampRid. Does anybody uses it in their safe? Results? Corrosive? Any input or experiences would be appreciated.

Works well, but is HIGHLY corrosive.

It's only corrosive on direct contact with metals, so unless you plan to pour it all over your guns, it's great.

I use it and there is no rust on my guns. Seems to work.

These are nice. Highly suggest the large capacity version if you have the room for it. The smaller ones need to be recharged a lot more often.

I hate ordering stuff online cuz I get anxious. Can I find "Eva Dry" at Home Depot?

-Joe Logic, how long did you use DampRid for? Or are you still using it?

I still use it. Works good. Just be careful of the moisture saturated liquid that's created from the crystals. I dropped a full tub an spent a looong time cleaning the safe and still got a few rust spots on the stainless steel barrel of my LaRue stealth. Just be careful to not pour it on your firearms, as stated above.

ooohhhh! sorry about your LaRue. Alright I guess I'll stick one in my safe. I'll also pick up an eva dry. Thanks folks!

I've been using DampRid for several years with great results. The small tub will last several months before you have to refill it. Just make sure you put the container someplace where you're not moving stuff around all the time. Mine is on the rear corner of a shelf.

A lot of people swear by Eva-Dry. I'm sure that's a great solution too. Different strokes for different folks...

Do you guys use DampRid by itself or in combination with something else?

I too use this in my safe. It's pretty awesome. It gets plugged in and recharged every month or so. Find it at Amazon.com.
