You shouldn't have a problem getting this fixed, IMO.

Tell the merchant if the corrected order is not overnighted to you immediately calling the CC company will be the very next thing you do when you get off the phone.

Sounds like maybe some merchants need to disguise there labeling a little better so package handlers wont know who it's coming from.

My suspicion is one of the UPS people did this one. FedEx and UPS drivers and other staff in the delivery chain do take things from time to time.

Not sure how fedex and ups tracking works.....but in all of their tracking of package movement is everyone who touched the package basically tracked too? Seems like they'd wanna know that because if they start getting alot of complaints traced back to one or 2 people then they'd have some good reason to can someone's *** and possibly have them criminally investigated.

UPS left a box at my door once, and school kids took it. At least that's the thought, since it was a route for them to walk home and they do play games. I made a statement that I did not get the product and it was insured and replaced days later.

I do dislike how they will leave stuff with anyone at the delivery address.

The only scans that, generally, can be put to a specific individual is the pick up and delivery scans. Everything in between is heavily automated and those scans are, often, just the label passing by a scanner on a conveyor. They might be able to track to the loaders who fill and empty trailers, but I'm guessing that is only a chance thing.

All delivery services have issues with pilferage. They tend to make a pretty good effort to curb it, but it's hard to stop. It doesn't help when they are union shops (Teamsters) with all the worker protections that are in place.

I've had ammo left at the door before. UPS from Cabelas. It is marked as small arms ammo. Anyone had issues with those disappearing mysteriously at your door? Because of the same marks, i kinda don't want to ship it to work either. Haha

Alright fellas, here's an update. Midways immediately emailed me this morning. They have opened a claims investigation with ups. The time frame is 10 days to conduct on the UPS side, which is okay with me. By the end of 10 days Midways will either 1: ship out my products at no charge to me or 2: refund all my items. I called customer service to confirm this and all is good to go. Funny thing is, UPS Fraud Department has still not contacted me. I will call them to, but off to work for now. OUT!!!

Seems like the would be the pick-up and delivery drivers who would have the most time and no watchful eyes to open a package, trade it's contents and reseal it. Hard to image someone in a sorting facility being able to do that. Although I've never seen the inside of one so I can't know that for sure.

Don't mean to mean to derail, but I always look forward to the UPS guy's silly, "kill me last" or "someones gonna have some fun!" type of comments when I periodically receive my, always seemingly, anemic boxes of cartridges :P

The guys who load and unload the trailers in the hubs and depots, without casting too many aspersions, are probably the highest percentage candidates of 'leakage'. They are the roughnecks of the system, no disrespect intended. The loaders have a tough, heavy, boring and repetitive job and in some cases people who are wholly unskilled or who have past issues wind up on the loading crews.

Remember that the pick up and delivery drivers have their names attached directly to the package and are the public face of the company, be it UPS, FedEx or whatever. They are held to a somewhat higher standard.

The boxes come off the conveyors into bins to go to trucks or containers where they have to be loaded / stacked by hand for best fit and weight distribution. Same with destination off load. Lots of hands at work there and lots of opportunity with almost no accountability.

The above photo is of a principal hub for air shipment. Ground, which ammo has to go by, is not nearly so fancy away from the larger hubs. And bear in mind that ammo is pretty easy to spot since all containers must be marked as 'ORM-D' with the appropriate wording as small arms ammunition.

Disclaimer... I don't work for a shipper, but I've been intimately involved with them at an operations level for many years.

At least you had books in the box, so the overall weight was still about the same. I had an entire turbo kit (complete, brand new) for a car "removed" from the box when shipped to me directly from the manufacturer. And what was inside the box? 4 packets of Pop Rocks.... that's it. The box was beat up, lots of new packing tape on it and a nice fist-size hole in the side as if somebody litteraly punched it. So an 80 lb package turned into less than 8 oz, yet FedEx still delivered it to me thinking nothing was wrong (they left it on my door step, otherwise I would've refused the package).

Needless to say, the manufacturer shipped me another kit within a few days, and they (the shipper) took care of the claim with the shipping company.

Midway's phone customer service and my local UPS station are closed already. I have already sent an email to both Midways customer service department and UPS fraud department. $200 worth of product gone. The box looks a little rough, but not uncommon for some of the past products I've received. Packaging label looks untampered with also, although a lot of packing tape. Funny thing is, there is a Midways catalog inside and those inflated packaging material baggies. Then about 6 books that look like their from Oprah's book club. Lookd through the books to see if there are any names or clues written inside any of them. No luck This really pisses me off These parts were for my AR build. What else should I do? Any suggestions?

You your CSI skills and lift latent prints from the books. Forward said prints to UPS to see if their fraud investigators can do an AFIS search on the prints. Or back in the real world you can sit back and wait for a claim to be paid.
