hi everyone
im new to cal guns but not new to shooting. i hunt fish and have fun. im joining to get some info on guns and so my freind altahick will stop bashing me about knowing absolutly nothing. ya just turned 18 and hope to have fun killing and shooting stuff.

quick question does any one know if thier are any problums with shooting 5.56 military surplus rounds in a stevens 223

Welcome, age is not an issue here unless one acts unaccordingly. You have to check the chamber on that .223 ... if its a .223 chamber ... then you more than likely cannot shoot 5.56 ....

well my dad just bought the gun yesterday and i sighted it in today. with the surplus 5.56 rounds. and i just read a post that said the surplus rounds have higher presure and they are bad for the gun

It can be a problem. Most 5.56 barrels can shoot .223 fine, while 5.56 can cause more pressure than a .223 barrel can handle.
