I'll be in Birmingham as well as Atlanta.

I want to stay in a HIlton property but I don't want to stay in a standard sized hotel room when I could stay in a Residence Inn type suite.

At the same time i want to support the Marriott boycott because of gun rights!

I'd say just go with the Hilton... Nice establishments.

Hampton Inn is Hilton's version of Residence Inn.

Sillyguy, when in doubt ask your fellow calgunners and they will come up with suggestions and places for you. use their experiences to help you find an alternative to suit your needs. Some of them might even have contacts for you so that you can get a better deal if they are willing to share. When we ask someone to suport a boycott we have to be able to step in and collectively provide alternatives for those who need them. I rarely travel but if I knew anyone in that area I would have been glad to have given you their names and had you use me as a reference. Good luck and have a happy trip.

            Thanks guys.

While I normally love staying in Residence Inn's due to the spaciousness and comfort, i do feel that as a gun owner I have to support my gun rights.

Hilton is where I will be staying for 8 days!

Be sure to let the Hilton people know they have you as a new customer thanks to Marriott's bad behavior and if they make you feel real good you just might bring all your business their way if you like what you see. nothing like reminding them to see if you can get a few extra perks and if the manager is unaware of the situation then brief him and say a lot of gun owners are taking their business elsewhere. Who knows, you might get an extra mint on your pillow or a really cute maid (LOL).

                Sillyguy,

Hampton Inn & Suites, Homewood Suites and Home 2 Suites by Hilton are excellent extended stay destinations and all part of the Hilton family of hotels. Home 2 is a new chain, I have stayed at the others.
