No its not. You can not mislead a customer, then use the law to ban the customer.

I can not agree to host a Dog owners gathering, then on the day of the gathering post signs stating, "No Dogs allowed". I gave up that right when I entered into a contract with the organizers. The fact that posting the sign over-rides the contract in law indicates fraud.

If I violate the posted sign, I can be charged with a crime, but the owner can not be charged with fraud.

Only a slime-ball company would do this. Marriott lost all my business now. I travel 4 to 5 times a year.

Irrelevant. Under the current state of the law, banning weapons, including firearms, is perfectly legal. Several states have expressly written this into law.

Why would you declare your weapon to anyone at a hotel. The only way they are going to find out is after some SHTF stuff and then them kicking you out of their hotel will be the least of your problems. Things I tell the front desk at a hotel; king size bed, view of the pool, non-smoking room. Things I do not tell them; glock 21 with 4 mags of hollow points and 50 rounds of hollow points in my luggage, 4 oz of coke in my toiletry bag and I will be ordeing up asian hookers to my room just like room service. Because if it is found by the staff/maids, you could be charged with a crime depending upon the state. I agree that it is better not to say anything to the staff, but you have to accept the result should the risk turn into a reality.

Marriott also contributed large amounts of money to ban same sex marriage.

I've been boycotting Marriott for a few years now. Looks like they're against all sorts of civil rights!

I doubt that their policy could lead to your arrest. Hiding a gun in a hotel room is easy and besides if you are in certain states you could just carry it with you. I think their policy is completely unenforceable and signs are put up to keep the sheeple happy.

Gee. I was traveling 3 times a month back in 2008. Much of my time was spent at Marriott hotels. I racked up gold status with them that year. Maybe (should good times return) I should switch hotel chains.

Abolishing LEGAL marriage and replacing it with "long term cohabitation personal contracts" (I just coined that term) could help us do away with a lot of BS. If you think you should be owed some kind of alimony type thing if the relationship doesn't work out, put it in writing! If you don't, when you go your own way, you are due NOTHING.

Marriage is a religious institution. the government shouldn't get involved.

We can argue various points all day long but the bottom line is that the Marriott people appeared to have done something underhanded and offended a lot of people. Now the question is do they deserve to be punished by boycotting their hotels and associated businesses or not. If we boycott then it is on the honor system for us individually. I have friends who are Mormon including an ex-wife and I asked them the same question. They said if it was done to them they would boycott the business if they were that passionate about their hobby or right. As a religious organization Mormons might do one thing but as individuals I find most of them to be pretty mainstream and support neighbors. They won't carry placards or raise the issue at church but they just might find excuses for not stayting at "brother" Marriott's place. I for one won't be staying at a Marriott because if I cannot trust them to be upfront about something like this what else can't I trust them on?

                      Exactly!

Let's see ... they knew the NRA convention (You know those folks - million + member firearms rights organization?) is in town. Not only is the hotel filled with convention attendees but a sponsor books the ballroom for a dinner event. No place in your correspondence with anyone, nor on the hotel web site is there any information regarding firearms being prohibited. There are no signs present anyplace on the property.

In the middle of the event (DURING the dinner) the GM post 1/2 @$$ed signs on some entrances, in a manner not consistent with state law?

Given the demographics of the NRA membership this is not going away soon. The potential backlash is likely to cost Marriott dearly.

Maybe this is our shot heard around the world and it is our time to take the initiatve and press this home by way of the boycott and basically do what Arizona has done and say "He-- No we won't take it anymore". We have talked until we are blue in the face and now let our wallets do the talking if reasoning does not work. They started this fight and we need to end it with a knock out. If the NRA or any other gun organization cannot stand behind it's members and do what it can to support the cause then they should lose members as well because they will have identified themselves as part of the problem and not the solution. In Sacramento county we are losing one third of our park rangers in July and 26 more cops on patrol thanks to budget cuts because our supervisors could not stop spending money on pet projects. We have to win this one to defend ourselves and our families because from this first victory will come the others as people start rallying around self defense.

Where are you going first of all? Three weeks where? Any hotel that suits your needs is fine so long as it is not owned or controlled by the Marriot people. I have found some board and breakfast places around the country that are just as nice or nicer and close if not the same price depending on how long you are staying. Now is a good time to do some exploring of options depending on where you end up at. Most places have a don't ask and don't tell thing about guns but ask if you want and say you are refusing to stay at a Marriott simply because of the way it was done more than the actual ban. They may offer to store it or just let you keep it in the room. I was asked in one place to make sure if I left it in the room to have a gun lock on it and take the bullets with me.
