    Glasses and gloves.

I've had CLP and Hoppes #9 spray back into my eyes before and it is not a pleasant feeling at all.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

Hoppes #9 is cologne for me. Anytime I smell it I smile. Bare hands for cleaning and stripping down. I already wear glasses so that's as far as I go for my safety devices.

I double-fold a towel and place that on the wifes nice coffee table before I start. Does that count as PPE?

For the smell, I converted to Mpro7 ..Cleans better than hoppe's, the wife doesnt complain when i come in from my man cave smelling like it and it doesnt leave the oily crud all over my bench, me and my gun.. I do wear either my glasses or my shooting glasses, Ive got hit in the eye 1 too many times by spray from the brush to do that again...
                  Happy cleaning...

I wear gloves but more to protect the gun from the oils on my hands than to protect myself from the chemicals. I also use gloves to load the magazines that I keep loaded.

Always safety glasses, sometimes rubber gloves, long sleeves when dealing with a 'jesus' spring (you know, the one that flies across the room and you yell, 'jesus!'). Read about a tip of using a big clear plastic bag when removing or installing springs, do the work holding the pieces inside the bag, supposed to contain the spring and part when it all lets loose. Haven't tried it yet. Also try to work by an open door when I can or if the weather is nice (and no springs to deal with, don't ask how I learned this) I set up outside to clean.

if you don't want to deal with the extra baggie, just place a towel over what you are working on, just make sure it is big enough to prevent low fliers from getting out from under it.

I wear safety glasses with side shields at work, same for shooting and cleaning. I use nitril gloves, if I'm cleaning in the house, I use ear plugs because the shrill from the wife can damage my ears.
