I saw it also. Some of the prices are comical. Also I was interested in 3-4 guns listed last night on Turners site in Orange, needless to say they were long gone this morning. DO NOT travel far to purchase a gun on the online gun rack. I lucked out once in Reseda but it's far from me and it was a bunch of heartache and grief.

I also went to FV Turners tonight, a big goose egg. Nothing good.

how about a yugo sks for $350 ? haha i think not. Soft of like when i asked for a price on a 10\22t the guy kept looking at the standard 10\22. He quoted me a price too bad a verbal quote can be changed.

Are you referring to the one at the Fountain Valley store? If so, it is mine. The reason it is priced for $350 is because I have around $600 invested in it. Is it a high price to ask, yeah if the buyer has no idea what has been done to it, but as for me, I am holding out for top dollar. I am a college student, and work only part time, so I can't afford to give my stuff away. The gun manager and I worked out a price that we both thought would be a good selling price. I have $150 in the optics alone, as the SKS comes complete with 1 PU replica scope. There is also a ventilated metal handguard, and bi-pod assembly. Also, I had a gunsmith remove the grenade sight assembly, drill, tap, and mount my scope mount, and install a new muzzle break. The rifle is all matching, and has been shot one time. Sorry if this seems like too much to ask, but I feel that this is a fair price.

I am not trying to flame your response in any way, as this is an internet forum, and you are entitled to your opinion. However, I need the cash right now, and I do not want to give my SKS away. Remember Turners takes 20% of the selling price so I am only getting $280 for a rifle that I have put $600 into. Again, I am not trying to start anything with you, nor am I mad at what you said. I just wanted to explain myself. This post is just a friendly rebuttal, and I am not trying to come off as being an ***. My intention for this post is not to cause any problems, but just explain why my rifle is priced at $350.

        Take care,

Sorry if this is a dumb question, but is tax charged when you buy a consignment gun? I'm guessing Turner's would charge you tax when you pay I just wanted to be sure.

Why didn't you try to sell the SKS here on calguns? I saw your SKS also but I passed. Turners does charge tax on these guns. Ades does not which is nice, if Drosed PPT I don't understand why dealers charge tax.

It gets pricy on expensive guns, I tried to get a dealer to not charge me this on a gun drosed ppt but he said no. Some dealers seem to believe if it hits the case and is not 2 people walking in off the street i has to be charged tax.

The problem with consignment on a gun like this is that the counter dudes may not have a clue about what's been done, so nobody knows if it's a good value.

If it were my gun, I'd list it on calguns (I'd never even think about doing a shop consignment), and if it didn't sell, I'd separate the optics from the gun and sell them that way.

You never get back what you put into 'smithing, of course.

You may want them to inform their sales staff about your SKS. If the sales staff provided some info besides the price and the name of the rifle it might get sold faster. Its a nice looking sks. However you should try selling it on here.

I realize this now, but Turners was my best option at the time. Next time, I will post on calguns first.

I'll do that, thanks for the advice. I might end up pulling my rifle from the rack and posting it for sale here.

You might consider making a 3"x5" with the mods and spec's. and have them zip tie it to the trigger guard. That way when someone looks at it they can read the card instead of relying on the sales person thats sweeping himself when trying to hand you the rifle.

I love it when you ask a price and they insist that you must hold the firearm, even after you say i dont need to hold it i already have a couple.

                              30% comission that's why!!

I asked the local San Marcos Turners how much they kept and the reply was 30%!! WTF!!

Someone posted earlier they were quoted 20%. Either way it's a rip. Sure they need to make money but come on.

Calguns is the place to advertise if you want to sell. I've sold a few things- racked up the I-Trader rating and hope to sell more.

If the consignment was more like 10% then perhaps.
