Lot's of things can make a gun worth more or less money.

I saw a posting recently that made me shake my head. A guy was offering a shotgun for sale NEW (well almost new, only 200 rounds through it) and it had the name of his huntin' club engraved on it because he won it at a raffle. Since it was already broken in and gussied up with that there fancy engraving, he was sad to have to let it go for only $75 more than what they are going for NIB elsewhere. Do those features make it worth more? I suppose that beauty, or value, is in the eye of the beholder. Don't dare call someone on it though, you threadcrappers... sheesh.

Ruger no longer makes the P85 any more thats why it's not on the roster. As for value it's whatever people are willing to pay and how many are for sale at that moment. Right now I,d keep it unless you need the money. But thats just me because I'm sorta a Ruger nut. Redhemi

If it's not on the "Roster" it means the gun is not safe in the hands of ordinary citizens. It is only safe in the hands of Law Enforcement Officers. It should probably be melted down...

An off-list Ruger P85 is worth no more than $2-300. Heck, a Ruger P-anything isn't usually worth more. However, for that cash you get a pretty accurate handgun that doubles as boat anchor. And the quote below is exactly correct--

But the newer stuff like HK45's, XDM's, LCP's..... All the hot new guns fetch a modest premium for sure.

I wasnt planning on selling it. its the first handgun I ever bought when i turned 21. I knew it was old Im not planning on selling it simply because it is accurate, and its never given me a problem. yeah its heavy but i actually like heavier guns. I don't care for the plastic framed guns. I like metal frames.

i did have a guy at a gun store tell me that his dad dropped a Ruger and broke the frame on it cause it was pot metal. i just said yeah ok. I never had a problem with mine.

LOL, what did he do, drop it from a skyscraper? Even if it was "pot metal", to think it would somehow break from a fall of what, 4ft maybe 5ft? Is ridiculous. Sounds more like gunstore BS because they wanted you to buy something else.
