You would all be surprised how much positive interest there is in guns. I did a project for German in college which involved me shooting watermelons with my entire arsenal. The people in my class loved it.

Gun lovers are there we just need to reach out to them

I'm not going to avoid this topic in class, and won't be picking another one either. ai appreciate the suggestions for that, but I'm decided on doing this, and thus I'm going for it. I presented a paper on guns 2 semesters ago and passed with flying colors. I had first expressed interest in sharing about trap and olympic bunker because it seems a little more "sheeple" friendly, but I'm not going to let that sway my decision either way. If people want to debate afterwards, so be it, I'd be more than happy to answer whatever questions they may have, and will do so politely. I've worn both glock and beretta shirts to clss several times ad have never gotten dirty looks. In fact, I've even been asked which models I own because of it. For the record the teacher is very open minded.

What about the history of guns in the USA? How do guns factor into the foundation of the government, the Constitution, why have a 2A, post Civil War gun control laws founded in racism, and civilians armed with guns as a deterrent to other countries with thoughts of invading (Japan in WW2), CA's Constitution not having 2A and why not? Statistical reporting of failed gun control in Canada (registration), UK (crime stats), Australia, etc.

Go for it. I'd say, a good topic is what you already mentioned, sport shooting. It's not too "scary", and you might be able to introduce some new shooters.

Don't worry about people getting scared. I did a presentation debunking various gun myths. My professor told me that, while she was anti-gun, she learned a lot from my presentation.

Never pass up an opportunity to educate those around you and have some pride in your hobbies.

The most important part is the way you portray yourself and your hobby, simply because it's guns shouldn't deter anyone.
