    Class Project - Guns!

I have a class project and need some ideas. The main idea is to present on a subject that holds your interest. So, of course, mine is on shooting. At first I was thinking I would just do it on Trap shooting/Olympic Bunker as my brother is heavily involved (He was on the Livermore JV squad that took first at nationals in Sparta, IL last July) but now I'm thinking I want to do it on centerfire rifles or handguns - maybe even both. So I'm coming to you guys for help to try and figure out what should be included in this little presentation. All ideas/suggestions are appreciated! Thanks in advance for any and all help

High school? Grade school? Either case, don't present anything on guns, pick something like cars or motorcycles or something.

    College? drop this stupid class.

yep, do not present anything on guns if you wanna stay in school and/or go in to a good profession. fly below the radar and hide your gun lust like the other shames you have in your life like jerking off (everyone does it but you dont go up to your teacher and show her right so why the F would you do so with your guns?).

Are you kidding? If someone is 'scared of guns' then having one of their peers is the best thing we could hope for.

OP, go for it. Present it in the same way you'd talk about any other sport and at least some of your class may get the idea that there's nothing unsavory about having or liking guns.

If we couch every action we take in paranoia (or is my sarcasm detector not working today?) how are we going to get our message out?

          ^^^ This ^^^

There is so much more to the shooting sports than drunken rednecks blasting dead computer monitors and road signs and leaving the filth for others to pick up.... which is a commonly held perception and one experienced by every CGN volunteer group that goes out and cleans up public shooting spaces.

A first worthwhile stop for classroom friendly information might be the USA Shooting Team web site? Maybe something about multiple Olympic gold medalist Kim Rhode, who is walking proof that girls can and do enjoy the shooting sports and competition.

Stay away from hunting, core 2A and HD stuff.

No guns, avoid it like the plague. Do it on unicorns or stuffed animals.

I did my final speech in "speech" class on RKBA. This was back in junior college a few *cough cough* years ago. It was fun debating it afterward w/ the teach and class, got an A too.

The Olympics recognize shooting in both summer and winter sports and approach it from the angle of physical preparation, skill, timing, body control, etc. Winter shooting is more physical than trap shooting. If they like the idea of olympic shooting they should know it is very specialized. Don't shy away from the subject but just use extra careful caution when preparing your presentation. And like some people said, avoid the hot button topics of today such as 2A, gun rights, ect. Good luck

I'd do it on guns. Just stay away from the business end and no politics. Treat it like half history and half science.

Like..."bla bla bla...thus we see that by raising the load by .5 grains chamber pressure rises to ##k psi."

"...bla bla bla Minie ball invented by Claude Minie...expaned to grip rifling...spun like foot ball...bla bla bla."

Watch some Tales of the Gun from the History Channel to get the idea.

What part are you wanting to present about? With the vast topics ranging from reloading to history to operation/principle, you can present for literally days non stop

With so many liberal teachers, the only way you're going to get a good grade is if you talk about the "evils" of guns. I'm just assuming you want to get a good grade. Unless you know for sure that the teacher is open minded, I'd find a less volatile subject. Like abortion or illegal immigrants!

In my JC speech class I gave an informative speech on how to safely unload a handgun and it was very well received, plus i got an A on it . I would say just have it well prepared and thought out so you don't come off as a bubba. I plan on doing my persuasive speech on why I think we should have shall issue CCW policies.

there's nothing wrong with your topic. approach it without the politics that surround it. keep it with the olympic spirit in mind and you won't have problems. BEING ASHAMED OF YOUR GUNS AND SEXUALALITY is what's wrong with this country these days.

How about how guns have impacted civilization.

Ended feudalism, enabled the rise of the middle class and thus Democracy. There never would have been a Reformation without guns. And the Reformation was the beginning of our way of government.
