Thanks for the education. I'm sure my IQ points went up by 5 just now. I'm probably up to 78 by now...

what I meant was, "how do you get an ND when you're CLEANING the revolver?" Both SA and DA revolvers involve removal/swinging out of the cylinder to clean both the barrel and the chambers, so how is it possible that you get an ND while cleaning.
    "Two dead?!? HOW?!?"

Ever do an exterior rag cleaning of a firearm before? Doesn't involve opeing the action.

Likely the story is that is "went off" while cleaning the gun, but the person just took it out and was going to clean it, but played with his booger hook on the boom switch beforehand.

Generally when someone says : I was cleaning it and it just went off!", you weren't and it didn't.

No no no. Someone who has an ND and shoots someone else should be banned. Someone who has an ND and shoots himself will most likely take help the gene pool if left alone!

            That you were cleaning???

That said, I've had an ND and it scared the bejesus out of me. It wasn't while cleaning though.
Well, im familiar with a case of an ND on a revolver and it went like this. 15 year old was cleaning a .22 revolver. He did everything right (at first)...unloaded the gun properly, etc. He cleaned the gun and reloaded it and was about to put it away when he noiticed a spot he missed near the trigger guard. He then had a moment of "dumb" and took a cloth and started rubbing that area and either rubbed it hard enough to engage the trigger or pulled back the hammer first to move the trigger away from the spot that he missed. Fortunately, it was pointing in a safe direction...downword toward an unoccupied couch. Scared the dog piss out of him and his younger sister who was home at the time too. She blackmailed him for weeks....threatening to tell his parents if he gave her any crap....

I don't know why you guys are suprised. It happens all the time. Most times when practicing holster draw.

People keep loaded gun in th house and forget to check. Besides checking for load I make it a habit not to pull the trigger. No need to unless you want it to go bang.

                    ^^ This.

And it's ND stories like this that lead the brilliant CA lawmakers to propose more handgun safety devices.

Two kinds of people give gun owners a bad name. Idiot legal gun owners and idiot illegal gun owners. I guess that only makes one kind of peeps.

One of my old friends had a ND as a youngster, shot himself through his hand, he did not remember how he did it, just that it hurt.

I don't know how you ND a revolver. You KNOW it is loaded. It takes .1 seconds to pull the rounds out of the cylinder, then there are no more rounds in it.

It isn't like you have to dry fire the gun to disassemble it either.
