I thought my guns were self-cleaning, like my oven.

My Mini-14 gets cleaned every couple hundred rounds.

My 10/22 gets cleaned every couple thousand.

So maybe once a month or more, depending on weather.

After each range session, I dunk my rifle in fryer grease from my restaurant.........................

          every trip.

I usually shoot minimum 100 rounds out of which ever firearm I bring to the range. With the hand guns it is 200 rounds on average. I clean them every time. I only use a brush when deposits can't be removed with a few patches. I inspect everything once a month minimum. Everything gets hauled out and relubed at least once every two months to prevent rust, whether they need it or not.

Wheres the option for "I clean it when it quits working"?

I don't know why, maybe it's the fact that I know how to fix just about any problem that might come up, but I have an uncontrollable urge to test the limits of my guns. I love shooting my 1911 to the point where the slide moves so slow that you'd swear you were watching a video from a high speed camera, oddly enough it still works, but then I've done some work to make it more reliable.

About the only thing I clean on a regular basis are my target rifles. Everything else gets the wait till it quits working approach.

Oh, and I do actually clean after every time I shoot if I'm using corrosive ammo.

It may take me a week....

but I clean after every use, before it's used again I wouldn't want it to fail me just because I wanted to see how far it will go If poop hits the fan I don't want to be standing around cleaning weapons when I need to be taking care of business
              I won't be wronged
              I won't be insulted

As soon as I get home I toss them in the shower and spray them down with shaving cream.

I clean ARs everytime I shoot. AKs only when they are really filthy, same with FALs.

I clean handguns with brake cleaner and lubricant (Im not gonna say Which one Does it, but my grandpa used it for 40 years... haha) after every shooting session, I usually don't break them down past slide/barrel/frame.

22s I clean when they stop working. They are so dirty after even 25 shots, it doesn't matter to me.

I clean my mossberg 500 1 time a year or so, if that.

Typically weekly for firearms that are being used.

Every 3-6 months for the ones that aren't being used.

FWIW I really enjoy cleaning firearms...usually ten out of ten voices inside my head tell me to stay home and clean them

I clean out the cylinders of my .22 revolvers pretty frequently, or else extraction gets too difficult.

Just shake my Glock a bit, every once in a while.

I "double sponge" between every round. At least when I'm on a cannon crew. Otherwise, I clean 'em when they need it. Everytime only if shooting blackpowder or corrosive ammo or planning on long term storage.

Depends on the firearm. shotgun=rarely, pistols and ar=after every session, bolt-action precision shooting=after every box or two of match ammo.
Most people have differing opinions on under/over-cleaning though.

That's what I do. There are 2 exceptions - my HD guns get cleaned every time I use them, and anything with corrosive ammo through it.

The rest of them keep on ticking, mag after mag.

I shoot 3-4 guns at a time every week or two, and I'd spend more time cleaning than shooting if I did it each time. So far, none of them have suffered from it, and I have a lot of rounds through some of them.
