I'm a big fan of the 3rd gen autos myself.
That having been said, my favorite quote describing the double-action trigger pull of a 3rd gen auto is "dragging a 40lb duffel bag up a long gravel driveway."
I love the guns and they are indubitably reliable but that first double-action pull really is something between a golf swing and a drag race.

I think that in order to be taken seriously, some people should learn to spell correctly.
Having delt with the greater majority of the premier gun manufacturers for the last 40 -> 50 years, the response you receive is directly related to the way you present yourself. Get a clue!

Oh, newgun. I'm so sorry to read that your travail with S&W has lasted as long as it has and without any tangible satisfaction for you. Can't imagine what it is like to be without my favorite sidearm for so long. It's almost like losing a good buddy, huh?
Don't know which S&W 1911PD was yours, but Top Gun Supply has this one in stock: http://www.topgunsupply.com/smith-and-wesson/
Also not too long ago a Calgunner was selling his S&W PC1911, which is one of S&W's three customized 1911s (here's a review of it: http://www.gunsandammo.com/content/t...of-performance). If that Calgunner's PC1911 is still available, I hope you consider it: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=287685.x

To the OP,
Can you please describe what you mean by "bad ammo"?The satisfaction of a job well done is to be the one who has done it

I phoned S&W yesterday to buy some replacement parts for a j-frame I damaged. They got the model number, etc, checked to be sure they had the parts on hand, and said "they'll be in the mail this afternoon - no charge - thank you, sir".
Sounds like really bad customer service to me.

The spelling teacher just got schooled!
I also like the signature line on the dude where he says:
"Gaw'd,I hate stupid".
I won't even mention that he should have added a space after the comma....Oh, I just did....
I suppose he doesn't take himself very seriously either. LOL"You can't handle the truth"Comment
