TO ANYONE WHO READS THIS THREAD

I DO NOT RECCOMEND! DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING A SMITH AND WESSON! YOU WILL REGRET IT! THEY HAVE THE SLOWEST, WORST, MOST UNCARRING, UNHELPFUL CUSTOMER SUPPORT. S&W is just another corporation and you are just another number. Getting them to move and get something done is not on their agenda. They assigned me a #748089 almost 11 weeks ago, After no SATISFACTION from David, I went up to the service manager Kate. I thought she was the answer, after all is said and done she is no better and has no authority to get things done, after the gun got back from the metal shop (8) weeks later I was told the slide was no good, NO S%^&, She said they would fix the gun and I would have it back soon, then she tells me t5hey are going to replace the gun. OK that sounds great. David calls my FFL dealer to tell him they have all the info they need to send my gun but they don't have any. WHAT? Now they have no date when one might be made, they did finally offer my money back. I think this whole thing is F&^K#$ UP. The gun in question is a 1911PD with night sights. GUN-GOOD SERVICE- SUCKS They don't give a dam wether or not you buy a weapon from them, SO DON'T! BUY KIMBER! WHAT DO YOU THINK?

So the gun is broken, but it's good.. and the service is broken, but it's bad.

Could be worse - you could have tried to get service on an HK.

I think you got burned, and you want to try and make them pay. But, since you're just one person, you think the best revenge is to air your displeasure in a public forum and try and get as many people as possible to stay away from that company.

I think people would take you more seriously if you didn't post your experience in the form of an incoherent rant and took the time to write a more objective post about what happened.

The fact of the matter is for a company as large as Smith & Wesson that not everyone is going to be satisfied. It's hard to tell what exactly happened from your post, but in the end it looks like you at least got your money back, right?

man who only have one gun in teepee have no smiles when it breaks

man who have many guns, have plenty smiles even if broken gun at shop long time

Youre not going to convince people to get rid of their S&Ws...
That said, their automatics that I have handled are mostly junk and I see no reason why somebody would buy them instead of something else. However, some of their revolvers are just amazing.

Everyone rags on Highpoint but I have recieved excellent service from them and got replacement sights within a week. There are some good companies out there who respond. Feather in Evans Colorado is another one who responded to my requests very quickly. Bigger companies with huge government or police contracts both inside and outside the country are not going to care if they fix your gun or not since you are more of a pain to them than anything else. It is a sad thing to say but it is true. About the only thing that MIGHT get their attention, and it is doubtful, would be a national boycott if it could be arranged. If I value a national brand name gun I take it to a local gunsmith I trust. I have some old S &W revolvers that are fantastic but the newer stuff leaves me looking elsewhere.

An S&W auto????????? Shame on you, you should have known better. You have no one to blame but yourself....

Kidding. That's a bummer to be treated that way. I had an issue with a Remington 870 and could not have been treated better so I would say that not all gun companies are like S&W.

                    I like S&W

I own a 686 (.357 revolver) and a new 15-22 (AR style .22 semi auto). I think their guns are just fine. The one time I had to contact them was to track down the age of a K17 in .22 (they wrote back to me in under a week with the manufacturing date and the original distributor(. Sorry you had trouble with their service dept., but I own a Charles Daly 1911, and there's no one to complain about, since they went Chapter 7. But someone else made the comment about being incoherent. I have to agree. It would be nice to understand what you're complaining about. Just my humble opinion.

How can the gun be good if you are sending it in for repairs and it sounds like major repairs/unable to fix if they plan on replacing the gun?

They are my favorite brand of handgun. I am sad to hear you have had a bad experience, but there are millions, Millions, of great S & W handguns out there.

Strange..I've had nothing but good dealings with HK...I never experienced any kind of attitude with them. They did some work for me, kept me informed and even gave me a bunch of free stuff (t-shirts/stickers/pins) when I got my pistol back. The guy even gave me some free upgrades for my pistol..Light LEM springs vs. the LEM springs in the kit I had.

To the OP..that sucks to hear, at least they offered your money back...in full I suppose?
