    Ear Protection Recommendation

Can someone recommend some decent ear muffs that don't break the bank (30-40 bucks), I still want to be able to hear the range masters commands but not go deaf from shooting

Also any ladies out there have any that they like the fit and look, maybe hot pink. Looking for some for my wife as well.

My wife and I use peltor tactical ear plugs.

Keep the solid side in the ear away from the instructor, and the baffled side in the ear that faces the instructor (for outdoor classes, don't do this indoors, will not give enough protection).

I use a pair of those throw away form ear plugs then cover them with my standard ear muffs (with the Beretta logo on them of course).

      Works great!

Peltor H10A. It has a NRR (noise reduction rating) of 30db. The highest you can get for an earmuff. Electronic ear muffs are nice but are more expensive. Sometimes 3X as much. Peltors H10A goes for $20 on Amazon. Peltors Electronic Tactical 6 earmuff goes for $60 on Amazon and only had an NRR of 21db.

I have these, but I also have the Peltor Bulls Eye 7 muffs. Pretty much exactly the same as the H10A muffs except they're all black and 27db NRR. IMO, they sound no different to me, but I wear the Bulls Eye 7 muffs because of the color and my wife wears the red/black H10A muffs. With the muffs alone, I can still hear the RO talking just fine. But with foam plugs in & doubled up, I can't hear anyone talking unless they yell.

Only problem with the Peltor H01a and b's is that they are so damn fat that if try to shoot most rifles they hit the stock....
I go with the Surefire EP4 plugs and if I need more protection I use the flatter style earmuffs. This combo gives a lot of db reduction and can use one or the other depending on the situation. Most of the time all I need is the Surefire's and I am good to go....

These are the most comfortable to me and they stay in my ears... I can wear these all day and not get sore ears..

And I forgot to mention that they are only about $12.00 a pair on the hi end.. You can find them for less. I got them on sale from Midway for $8.00 for two pairs a while back..

+1. Although my standard ear muffs don't have Beretta. My hearing is to valuable to me. I don't take chances on that.

I've been using the Surefire EP6 earplugs. They're really comfortable, and only $14.00 a pair.

Definitely look into these! I've had mine for years, given some as gifts, all with no complaints but plenty of praise.

Both the range master and his assistant at the LEO course I'm in have them, as do a good amount of students.

They have a very low profile, auto turn off, and an auxiliary input jack for ipods or whatever.
