Last week I was RSO at my club. 2 guys shooting their Gcocks kept jamming. They said they'd shot a few thousand rounds through their guns without having cleaned them...

...Because they did not know how to take them down.

It's unbelievable to me how someone can own a gun and not know how to operate it. I guess those 2 guys are not alone.

So, you've NEVER totally broken down and cleaned a wheelgun, have you? Yea, they can be a real PITA to reassemble after a complete deep cleaning.

The idea that people buy guns, shoot guns, but don't know how to clean them shouldn't be surprising. I've never had a salesperson in a store show me how to clean a gun, and never heard of gun cleaning being a part of any basic firearms courses I've seen offered anywhere. I don't need such a class, but I do think it's actually a great idea. If you just look at a "basic" gun cleaning kit, you've got a bottle of crap that stinks to high hell, a bunch of cotton sheets, 3-6 pieces of rods, a half dozen brushes, 3-4 mops, patch holders, a dozen threading adapters, and barely anything beyond listing what's in each slot.

And hell, apparently CSACANNONEER wants to use it as an excuse to get people to clean his guns for him, a win/win for everyone. Anyone want to learn how to do my laundry?

Some here don't think it's necessary to clean glocks and AR's. Just lube and you are GTG.

I'm not one of those people BTW. I think what you're planning is a good idea.
