    Crazy!

One good thing is that he kept the muzzle in a safe direction when turning. Not sure if he knew the gun had been disabled in the split second, but his professional training kicked in... ya, right...

Bet it was a cartridge case base failure; that is about the only thing that will dump that much gas into the action and still have the barrel in one piece
If it blew a chunk out of the side of the rifle I'd agree with you 100% but its hard to tell from the camera.

I saw a converted Chinese RPK let go - no sear trip safety - questionable conversion by an individual on a form 1 pre-86.

Shooter was firing from prone off the bipod.

Scary for the shooter, enlightening for the observers.

No strucural damage to the piece.

Here's the deal on the C-4 AK ammo.

Long after the program was finished, Charlie Leatherwood took a full mag of the doctored ammo, loaded it into a real AK (he was serving in the army and assigned to the FSTC - Foreign Science and Technology Center) in a fixture and proceeded to fire all 30 rounds full-auto.

No damage to the rifle, all the cases (steel) were split full length.

So much for the "bolo beans."

The way the AK is made, the I'm guessing that bolt carrier and the recoil springs will not be thrown all the way out. Maybe the cover will fly off and the rest of the charge dissipated further away from the shooter's face. Or that's the hope!

looks like a case failure or out of battery fire. Ive had that happen before no real damage to rifle at all but is scary when it happens also a face full of gun powder dont feel too good but deosnt hurt that much.

one of the reasons I love the ak so much an out of battery fire wont destroy the gun.
