I did search... a lot...and found that your solution is already exist and cost $5 - regular webcam, Plastic CD cover and blank piece of paper (15-20 years on the market).
I'll try to get trial version and post for review...
The system has ability to practice trigger control (jerking off) and movement of the weapon in addition to shoot-don't-shoot and how long to shoot and how many times to shoot.

Nothing is new under the sun except of price, service and options...

This is old tech adapted to new application.

IIRC there was a similar thing made by crossfire back in the 90's with laser snap caps that you'd use to shoot at detectors.

It was featured in punisher Armory #4 IIRC
