    Guard your stuff at angeles!!

Last sunday after shooting, I packed up my goodies and went to fetch my truck, when I came back my bench rest had vanished !. Now being the dumbass that I am , I did not notice (out of sight, out of mind) till I got home and unloaded. I called the range and they did not see/find it. That means someone got a free caldwell(?) grey and green rest for free!.Rat bastards ......So learn from my dumbass and trust nobody!. My fellow shooters let me down .

At least thats the least you got stolen from you.

This one guy came on here a prototype stock on his rifle at an indoor range. He had the blueprints INSIDE the stock and it was his only and original prototype.

Someone stole the rifle right from under his nose.

Angeles is known to be frequented by gang bangers and wannabe gang bangers... you figure they'd not want to touch yer stuff considering you have a gun on you.

I know this sounds a little paranoid but when we go to Orosco Ridge for an outdoor shooting session, I have my wife stay up range with a loaded rifle at all times during the cease-fire. Just in case. It's sad that you need to watch your back like that now days.

That's not unreasonable. Plus she can load mags

I'm paranoid in general and always (think) I see peeps scamming on gear at the range. And things can get a little confusing if you have 3-4 people in your group, several people shooting at the same time with more stuff on the back benches.

The two bank robbers (Platt & somebody) who killed several FBI agents in Miami got their gear (Mini14, shotgun, .357s) by robbing people at secluded ranges.

Last time I was at Angeles the RO let a bunch of knuckleheaded idiots on the range. They were hollering and cursing the whole time, "Effed that MF'er up!" etc. They destroyed their targets and target stands proving that want-a-be gangbangers just don't know how to shoot. One of them actually fondled one of their rifles during a cease fire.

When they arrived I kept an eye on all of my stuff.

I think an RO from Angeles frequents the boards here, maybe he'll chime in.

Lastly, you have to be a total idiot attempting to steal gear at a shooting range.

in fairness to angeles, one really needs to watch their property at any range. one of the reasons i tend to go with at least a few people...not only for the social aspect, but also for the additional pairs of eyes.

                          Ummm... yes and no.

Burro is a great place to shoot, but the weekend clientele sucks. If you cant go during the week, the private ranges are nice if you can get one.

I never go by myself, always with a friend so someone is always watching our stuff.

A few weeks ago I was taking a class at Burro, and in the tac range across the way there were a bunch of knuckleheads decked out in Haji gear, some wearing balaclavas, bump firing, shooting into the dirt, etc. It was kind of unnerving!! On the way down the hill into Azusa that day there were some other knuckleheads doing donuts in a lowered pickup truck on one of the dirt turnoffs, right next to the cliff above the river. Guy was spraying mud and dirt all over the road. I was hoping he'd lose control and launch off the cliff but no such luck! That was a Sunday; less drama on Monday.

I guess I should be thankful for the relative peace of the ranges in the SF Bay Area (and lack of steel core restrictions, for the most part).
