I guess that's true if you royally suck at paintball and plan on being someone's target. Those that can "dominate", come home unsoiled, unwelted and full of ego!
-j.k. of course, I've never done the whole paintball thing.

wear gloves! Good mechanics gloves work well.
Bring water, lots of water.
To clean your visor a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water in a small spray bottle or in a zip lock bag with a soaked rag will wipe that gunk right off instead of smearing it around.
If you get splattered on the visor DO NOT wipe it with your hand or sleeve. Just let it sit.
Work with someone, 2 people working together well can own the game.
Keep your head down, its amazing how many people just start walking arond with their head exposed.
And above all, have fun its just a game after all.Comment

I used to play on a amateur paintball team and we practiced at Paintball Jungle on occasion. Our home field was Mare Island, but that field closed. I had several markers, but my best one was an old Sheridan EXC-68 with a J&J ported barrel, red dot sight, double trigger, internal gas job, basically the whole enchilada! Heavy as Hell, but built like a tank and never broke down. I loved to snipe at players with the red dot who just walked by me while I hid in the grass or bushes.
BTW, I don't know if Paintball Bob is still the owner, but if you shoot him or hang a flag, you get a small embroidered batch. Kinda neat.
Like Josh said, work as a team! Nothing is as satisfying for a beginning player than using teamwork to take out a veteran player! Also, bring plenty of water, Powerbars or energy food, and a change of clothes. As I recall, this field is not too far from the wetland part of the bay and is quite muddy from the rains too.
Let us know of your experience. Part of the paintball experience is telling your stories.

Thanx 4 all the info.. I had a great time. Only downer was the price. I had to rent all gear so I was out 70bucks form the start
. Team work is the key to a win. Some guy we meet who seem to know what he was doing, had us (3) flank the other team to draw fire. We got a few kills and he tagged a few from there six. He got the flag and return it back to our HQ. We keep the BG's heads down and got a few more kills with our cover fire. It was fun, but don't 70bucks fun
. If I had my own gear or a load, I'll give it 1 more try. After running sometimes my gun would shot out five balls at a time. To bad ther was no CQB's
.

Yup sure is fun stuff.
I sold all my gear except my jersey when I started riding to pay for the new gear.
Always wanted to get back in but with some RAP markers. They're like airsoft but with paintballs . http://www.rap4.com/yabbse/Comment

DRH is right. I had bad tunnel vision during one encounter - some guy and I were exchanging fire, both of us were behind barriers. I fired one last volley, expecting him to hide - which he did. As he hid, I snuck up on his flank, which worked great - I tagged him out, only to get blasted by his buddies whom I didn't notice for the lack of tunnel vision. Oh well.

Paintballing is a lot of fun. There definitely are a lot of folk that take it too seriously. I've never really been hurt by the paintballs though, usually I get injured more from diving around with keys in my pocket or something stupid like that.
One time I was hit and went out of bounds and watched the field. Some idiot just kept shooting at me so I got further and further away and eventually held my marker in the air to let him know I was out. Still kept shooting me. I took about 20 paintballs to the chest by the time I walked over there and took his marker away from him and threw it in the bushes. I think it was a teenager (hard to tell when everyone is all suited up). He seemed scared enough so I just walked away. Didn't see him in any games after that and I don't know where the refs were.Comment

Not for me gents, I would rather get my jollies with paper targets. I am too big a target anyhow. Dully glad you had fun less the 70 bucks, still what price do you put on a fun experience? I would be freezing the paintballs anyway and going for keeps. Sorry im just a rotten old hunter.

I think most PB fields have you meter your PSI so your velocity is around 260-280 FPS. Usually you check it right before you enter the field before each game. That way people aren't playing with their velocity.Comment
