If you get in an accident IE rear end someone that safe may crush you, if it's not really well secured. Trucks at least have a bunch of steel between the cargo and passengers. Renting a trailer sounds like a good idea.

Moving a large safe isn't a problem. moving it without scratching or denting it, or crushing a foot or spraining a back iS a problem. I think that $150.00 is a cheap price.

Yer guys an girls im going to pay the delivery charge, its coming next Saturday morning, we live in a ranch house so no stairs. Though i had it in mind to place it in the back bedroom. We have carpet ontop of concrete floor through out the house, so i dont think its going to damage the floor in anyway, hopefully they will be willing to place it in the back bedroom, rather than just the garage.
Will post pics of it with my tiny collection of guns in place, next weekend, this has been a long time coming for me to own a real safe. so im very excited, wife loves the look of it, that was her concern about having it in the house and not the garage. It sure is pretty for a safe that is.
Shopped around and found a good deal at a place that i never thought i would find a good deal at.
Still for what a safe costs the materials and the time to construct it, really makes you think about how much gun and rifle manufactures charge for a rifle or high end gun $3000 for a FN SCAR for example vs what is involved in producing a nice safe.

I agree with this. If it is damaged by the delivery people then they are responsible for it not you!

depends. that is usually to curb side. maybe into your garage if your really nice.

your best bet is to find a trailer that sits really low to the ground, and have a long ramp and a pallet jack. thats how we move bank safes. do you have a really flat driveway? if you cant find a pallet jack. go buy a bunch of 1/2" solid round stock and go egyptian style to get it in your gararge and move it around.

just be very catious if you move the safe and if it starts to tip LET IT GO. its not worth letting you or a friend get killed or lose a limb.

Once here i could borrow a pallet jack from work if there not willing to place it on the spot but then i have to figure out how to get it of the pallet onto the carpet.

I agree, rent a trailer $40 a day or have delivered. $300-400 (cheap side for a 400+ safe) depending on terrain.

                Why risk it.

once on carpet you can easily slide on a couple pieces of cardboard. On hard floor I like to use my wooden dowel trick.

                  ok. simple but very dangerous.

if it comes on a pallet which it probably will. you need to get it off the pallet 1st.
#1 Rule. NEVER LEAVE A CORNER WITH NOTHING TO FALL ON! always keep a block about the same height as the others under a corner until you have the next step down block under it than pull it out.
NEVER reach under the safe no matter what. if you push a block under grab something else to pull it back to you. small piece of wood with a nail partially sticking out will help, just amke sure its long enough to reach all the way under the safe lol.

                  easiest way.
                  6- 4x4 wood about 6" long
                  9 or so 2x4 6"
5 or so 1" thick blocks
good sized digging/prybar. Im talking 5ft or so Leverage is going to be your best friend.

the pallet it comes on is going to have 4x4 with some 1x2" and other wood on there. your going to want to tear it down to just the 4x4 if you can and try to get the rest of the wood off.
use a 4x4 as a leverage point. raise safe and slide the 2x4 w 1"block under remove 4x4, lower safe. when you place the blocks try to keep them on the corners. helps balance. than do the same steps for the rest of the corners and lower it like so

4x4-> 2x4 w/1" block -> 2x4 -> 1in blocks -> to carpet, than use liek the other said dowels to move it. 4-5 about the width of the safe should work.

now when your doing this make sure that no people are in an area where if the safe falls they can not get out. once they get the block under the safe and remove old blocks have them stand up and help balance the safe.

we have moved 6'000lb safes this way. it works.

Liberty Safe wanted 289 to deliver a 1200 pounder to my house, set it up and bolt it to floor. I decided I could do it myself. The hardest part was getting it out the back of my truck without damaging it. I ended up using a makeshift sling and an enginehoist to lift it out and stand it on a homemade furniture dolly. By the time I got it halfway over the threshold of the entry door the wheels on the dolly were crushed and spilling BB's everywhere (I should have used better quality casters). But that was close enough to get it on a piece of carpet and slide over the tile into position. You'll need to be careful sliding it on carpet to not stretch out or bunch up the wall to wall carpet if you have to move it over carpet. Anyway, if I were you I would definitely rent a trailer, it will be MUCH easier. And next time (I've outgrown this safe already) when i get a bigger one Ill' use xibunkrlilkidsx's egyptian method!

now you did explore another area also.

what flooring do you have. a heavy enough safe with improper weight distribution can damage floors, crack tiles, make a nice track in wood/vinyl/laminate floors, and damage thresholds. if you worried about it a blanket with a piece of plywood on top will help distirbute the weight and make it way easier to move across everthing, especially the carpet. just make sure the width is greather than the wheel base of your dolley, pallet jack. and are small enough so you can move it around with out taking out everything on the walls. we have some 2'x6' long and 2'x2', although we use 1/4" aluminum plates.

and on the egyptian method, people always give us a weird look when i walk in with old golf club shafts and push the safe across like nothing, like OMG i cant believe that actually works kinda thing.

Sorry to thread jack, but what is the weight threshold for two story apartments? I know the joists and joints can only hold so much weight, but what are we talking about in say a 2'x3" area?

Gah. i cant remember it was like something (85?.?60lbs?.?.?)lbs per sq ft. or something like that. maybe try contacting a local construction/engineering/arcitect that does residential work and ask.

it would be easier for me to simply pay the 300$ to have it delivered and installed. I dont want to get hurt or have anyone else hurt moving a safe especially a 800 pound one. . For 300$ its just not worth it
