IIRC Weiser's got in trouble over some arms dealing involving South Africa. Dunno if that's true. Pity, it was a nice store.

Lots more Socal SD people than I thought here.
Hhahaha The Trophy Lounge has been getting sailors laid for years and years and years! Where else can one go for a "guaranteed" hook-up with a westpac widow??? Hahah! A few years ago I went to a little gun shop in gaslamp and he was trying to sell off all his inventory because he said that the city had some new law which made it so no one could sell firearms within the city limits. He said the closest place to purchase would be oceanside? This was probably 3-4 yrs ago, and I don't know if he really was telling the truth??? Also, I've been to another shop in chula vista, kind of close to a Kragen Autoparts and a car audio place, and they didn't sell guns at all, just accessories, and the guy was an *****hole too. They have the gunshow at the del mar fairgrounds though! I miss SD soooooo much!

I might be dating myself here, but anyone else remember when in that one block area there was the "Trophy Lounge" (which I understand lost it's license so the building can be torn down for re-development) Antonios(sp), The Westener and the Wagon Wheel . . . not to mention the XXX or was it just X rated theater across the street that now houses a VFW/American Legion . . . Ahhhhh the good old days

Makes me kind of miss Pete's (it's still there but with a much different cliental), li'l Audries the "Port-o-Call", The Cop-Out over on Main St on the back side of the base . . .

The porn theater is now a college campus. Trophy Lounge is still there. And yes, hookers still ply Main St on military paydays

Didn't call it 'Nasty City' for nothing!

Long ago and now far away...
The thing with firearms is that they are not like any other consumer product, simple ownership of one carries a lot of responsibility.

Still called Nasty City as far as I know. There is some redevelopment going on in that area. However, you can paint a skunk... and all you will have is a painted skunk. Its will always be Nasty City.

But hate to admit it, the old Trophy lounge did come in handy on some weekends. Thats was another lifetime tho...

Eh, just drive a bit north to Kearney Mesa. Turner's and Socal Gun are both there.

But even closer is Royal Loan, on El Cajon Blvd. It's near the 805, a little bit south of the 8. They'll do off-list receivers, but no complete rifles.

There is a Store in Chula Vista called the The Chula Vista Gun store but I believe that got in trouble for some guns that weren't legal to even sale. I went in before long ago and they had a pen gun. Only place that sales rifles in Chula Vista is Big 5. Discount Gun Mart, American Shooting Center and Turners, and California Police Equipment on El Cajon Blvd is you best bet. A place called National Police Supply has been the best in beating prices for me but it's in Vista and no guns in store. All have to be ordered it. Weissers in National City was awesome back in the days. There is a old Rolling Skating place in Chula Vista that just closed on L street and Broadway would be great as an in door range and gun store.

At one time CV and NC had a couple of good shops. Weiser's was great. Even downtown SD had Krasne's. But ... no more. Go to SoCal Guns on Claremont Mesa or in LaMesa. Or, El Cajon Gun Exchange (ain't what it used to be but okay). Best in the entire area - (1) The Shootist in Murrieta, (2) Duncan's in San Marcos, and (3) SoCal.
"Outlaw guns and only outlaws will have guns!" Unfornately, we may be moving in that direction.

I used to live a couple blocks from there when I was a kid. Never went in.

This is the only FFL I know of in CV:

Big 5 over on East H Street is the only place left in CV that sells firearms of any type... some C&R type stuff, shotguns and rifles. NO handguns.

CV Gun Store over on Broadway only sells accessories and such. No FFL = No firearms. I would only go in there in an extreme emergency... like "I Am Legend" and I'm the only one left on earth.

As a former serviceman in the early 80's, I remember the Westerner very well. They had so many fights that they replaced all their broken furniture with breakaway type furniture.

If you are looking for an FFL in Chula Vista contact Mitch Dashiell. He sells firearms out of his house. He can order most anything, and his inventory is mostly composed of consignment firearms. http://www.dechielfirearms.com/

how come san ysidro does not have a gun shop? does it have the same bias againt gun shops that CV has?
Screw the environment! The sooner we trash this place the sooner we will have the political will to explore space and conquer the known universe, spreading like locust we will plunder, crush new enemies, take their women and if we are lucky, we shall meet our fate on the battlefield.
