Airsoft wars- where do you get these models?

First of all, I don't play airsoft. I used to play paintball when I was like in junior high, and it was fun and a lot of excercise too. But when I saw this video, I couldn't believe how real looking the M1 carbine and Garand were, let alone the other weapons. They look so good, I might have to get one myself. Where do you get airsoft guns that look this real, I haven't seen them like this at Big 5. Of course, they probably cost as much as the real thing also.
Oh and this video reminds me of the movies, everyone is shooting, nobody runs out of ammo, and nobody dies. hahaha

I have two from Airsoft Extreme. An AK-47 and a VN Era AR. From a few feet away they look real except for the red muzzle. The weights are almost exactly the same as the real item. If you Goggle airsoft you will find a lot of information. There are also lots of You Tube videos. I use mine for weapons displays and people like the looks of them.

If you liked paintball, wait until you attend a full-on military-simulation event. This past October we were at Ft Hood in their MOUT site along with 200+ other airsofters battling it out in the villages of Elijah and Hargrove. . . using airsoft versions of the AK, AKS, AKM, Galil, G3SG1, PSG1, Socom16, FNC, FAL, M1A1, M4, M14, M16, M21, SR25, SCAR-L, M240, M249, M60, M203, MP7, 1911, USP, USPc, M9, G21/23/25/27, RPGs, grenades, smoke bombs, and simulated artillery (I'm sure I missed a few other obscure models that people were using). Nothing like the shockwave of an arty round hitting you while you're inside a building trading BBs with the opfor in another building across the street. . . or being relentlessly pursued by a rebel army through forests and gullies like what was seen in Tears of the Sun while trying to extract back into friendly lines. . . and no, we didn't have unlimited ammo, and not everyone made it back. . .

If you want to stick around in CA, there's a major event held every Memorial Day. This year there will be two special VIPs in attendance: Col. Danny McKnight (rtd) and 1Sgt. Matt Eversmann (rtd). If you don't recognize their names, they were at the Battle of Mogadishu. . . which was later translated into the movie, Black Hawk Down.

I used to buy my airsoft guns at uncompany.com

Shipping is quite a bit though, but they've got a massive selection on stuff.

I bought one for indoor fun. It's a cheapie I got for ~$50.00. I assume in that video they are using paint balls? Mine came with plastic 6mm pellets, bought more at walmart for $5.00, it says it's not recommended for paint balls. Despite having to rack the slide every shot it's fun for some indoor target shooting and because it's pretty weak it won't break anything if you miss. The accuracy is pretty good even though the sights aren't the best. The magazine holds 14 pellets and it even locks back when it's empty. The gun looks realistic, has a weighted magazine that gives it the heft of a fully loaded Glock.

I think it is useful for practice since with ammo availability I can't shoot the real thing as often as I'd like.

I bet those full auto ones are expensive.

Bought mine on a whim at Fry's electronics, they only had the sigma model but it's still fun and the trigger is better than the real sigma .

P.s. If you like military simulation games, Don't waste your $$$ buying the crap from big 5. Instead go to your nearest Airsoft Retailer or Any of the online websites that was listed in the above post. Airsofting is pretty addicting next to putting lead down range.

What are those guys like, DOING though? I mean, how do they know they've been hit? How does anyone else know? Is there a whole lot of "I hit you! No you didn't !" like when you played "guns" as a kid? Is it honor system? What physically does the hit person do? Fall where they lay? walk off to an out of bounds area?

pretty much it is the same as paintball, but without the paint stains. you can still feel the hit (unless hitting gear which is the same in paintball) and you can hear the hits (especially when they are doing full-auto on you).

even though the BB's are .2-.3 grams they still sting as if you are getting hit by rubber bands. they do leave welts on exposed skin and sometimes even under clothing (if it is like t-shirt type thickness)

and for me.... i learned to not have exposed facial regions when playing. unless you like to look like a HS teen with pimples the next day. (not me, but saw a buddy that it happened to due to him only using googles instead of full face mask)

99.9% of airsofters play with Honor. Most 'hardcore' airsofters are adults, not little kids. And Most organized airsoft games are played by adults with restriction to children(hence the whining&cheating-"I hit you, No you didn't"). If you've never seen a well organized airsoft game or Operation before, you'll be Shocked. If you're a Sheeple, hippiie, or tree hugger and you see such game going on, I wouldn't be surprised that the first thing you'll do is dial 9-1-1 and cry "Terroist"!
