Turners Transfer Fee

Ha ha! That YOU know of!

I have one dealer that charges me $55 for out of state transfers which INCLUDES the DROS in that price, and another that charges me $45 which INCLUDES the DROS in that price.

It pays to be friendly and congenial with FFLs and salesmen at gun stores, and not piss them off with arguing about whether they will include a $1.00 grip or not in your purchase, when they are already offering a great deal or opportunity!!

none of this crap matters because Turners excuse to not do transfers is their computer is down. I was there with a buddy who was looking at guns and one guy was trying to transfer a gun to his son and they gave them the same BS story well the computer system isnt working right so we cant do it. I jsut snickered and told the guy to go to The firing line in HB. I personally wont buy anything at turners. Not even ammo

Sure. 1.Call around in advance. 2.Buy in volume. One FFL I worked with, did a 20 receiver buy for me and charged $200. That included the DROS. Worked out to $10 per receiver. I had to fill out 7 4473s but he didn't charge for the forms.

So you would essentially do work for free while someone else gets a profit from it? Awsome! when are you opening up a gun store? Ill buy all the guns you sell for cheaper online and have them go through your store where you will make zero profit and handle all my paperwork. thats sounds extremely fair.

So let me get this straight. You only shop at Neiman Marcus and Barney's, right? You gladly pay double the price for the same goods, right? No, you buy your clothes and appliances at stores with good prices. Same thing applies to firearms, just like everything else purchased over the internet. People buy firearms over the internet because they save a lot of money and/or they find what they want, when they want it. People are forced to have them transferred through local dealers because it's federal law. If a dealer's prices aren't competitive or they don't keep things in stock, people will shop elsewhere--just like every other product you buy in life.

And I call BS on the old saw about working for free. Assuming a $75 fee for an FFL to FFL transfer, $25 goes to the state and $50 to the dealer. So, for about 15 minutes worth of paper work, that dealer grosses $50. On an hourly basis, that's $200 per hour. Even if it took 30 minutes, that would still be $100 per hour. That's hardly working for free.

I like Turners for new stuff or consignment deals ...

Even the consignment deals are iffy at Turners, with the best not making it out to the shelves. This Saturday I was at Turners when a customer was inquiring about consignments, saying he has a friend who wanted to sell a 6" stainless Python. The clerks fumbled through the blue book, then said they could probably place it for sale with a sales price of $875 to 900. The guy said he'd tell his friend and then left. Once he was out of ear shot, the other clerk ran up and said "I want that" and then told the first clerk to put it aside for him once they came back. I've all the clerks run in back another time oogling a new gun that came in for consignment and they literally were arguing who would get it. Just one of the many perks working there. If I wasn't occupied, I'd have run outside to tell the guy to sell it direct PPT for it's true value.

That one transfer could easily turn into several hours of paper especially if the dealer does a lot of xfers.......25-50 bucks per transfer, seems reasonable to me.

Now if a guys does 3-5 xfers per month, ya he could charge 10 bucks and it wouldn't have much effect on him.....

When the DOJ or/and ATF are in your shop for weeks/months tying up your business over paper work..............one 4473 can turn into countless manhours........
