I called this one place $68 and he said they charge you the tax you bought on the firearm with.

I found this one place in that'll do it for $75 flat... He offered me $75 after he told me $100 and i immediately said "Christ". But he also has to charge me tax on the gun itself. He attempted to find the same firearm but it was still way more expensive than If I bought it from him and dros'd it at.

Sharpshooters for a flat $76 transfer fee. I Think I'll end up using Sharpshooters. Despite the BAD publicity around them. They have so far been great at selling me what I need and using their services.

Just keep asking around. My FFL dealer only charged me $55 for DROS and transfer fees last November. He's currently MIA.

Theres some specialty shops I'm checkin around... the ones that aren't real shops... so they should ahve low overhead

I know that is their out of state transfer fee. Is it the same for PPT?

I may be wrong but I think some people are confused between PPT (Face to face) and an FFL transfer (Gun shipped from FFL to FFL)

PPT-
1. For a PPT involving one or more handguns, the total allowable fees are $35.00 for the first handgun, and $31.00 for each subsequent handgun.

2. For PPTs involving one or more long guns, the State fees are limited to $25.00 for the whole transaction plus $10.00 dealer fee per firearm transferred.

If you are being charge more than this for a PPT then something needs to be done

For FFL transfers they can charge pretty much whatever they want.. IIRC the mave to charge tax if shipped from out of state...

ETA- Never a problem at sharpshooters.. Just know that you will be treated in the same manner as you treat them..

If thats true... I'm calling em tomorrow to confirm and I'll verify that in this topic.

Out of state to in state transfers are usually $25 plus ($20-$50 their fees) and some shops will try to get you to pay taxes on the firearm that you paid for out of state whihc is COMPLETELY WRONG.

Whereas PPT are $35 for the first longarm and $10 per one added onto dros.

Good thing too, since assault weapons have been illegal as of January 1st, 2000.
