    Snap-Caps? Do you Need them?

Ok I understand what a Snap Cap does but do you really need to use them?

In a modern Firearm do you need them?

In a 1911 or some other specific designs I know their are needs, but what about in a USP, CZ75, Glock, 5.7, etc....

By Default yes, unless I know the gun does not need one.

Only if the model of gun calls for one, but not by default.

I just use the snap cap so I get used to the trigger pull.

I use snapcaps to practice catching them after racking the slide hard. It gains cool points after a COF.

Snap caps arent just for protecting your sweet little firing pins- they're for dryfire practice. i dont know about you, but i try to do dryfire drills at least a couple times per week. dry-firing either from a holster or in offhand positions with a rifle WILL make you a more efficient shooter. i buy them so that i can be a better marksman.

If you're using them, it's because you're concerned about "protecting the sweet little firing pins" Otherwise why use them during dry fire practice?

I usually buy them when I buy a new gun to get used to the trigger pull like someone said. I'll mix em into like 6 mags and see if I'm jerking the trigger. I also use them to teach newbies the tap and rack or just to mess with them lol dry firing is a big plus as well I dry fire the hell out of my handguns when practacing my presentation from a holster

I use snap caps when dry firing handguns.

Never used them for rifles or shotguns.

+1 Do you really need to protect the Firing Pin?

                  Protect it from hitting.... Nothing?

I was just poking fun at swerv. Pointing out that the people that use them, use them because they feel they're protecting something. If they didn't, why use them to dry fire.

                      I don't use em except on some .22's .

It's weird like that. I bought a pack of five 9mm and gave 2 to a friend. Out of my CZ, I can always catch 2 out of 3. Never the same two.

Snap caps are great when you're at the range. Have your shooting buddying load your magazine, and mix in a few snap caps. That way you'll see all your poor shooting habits.

I mostly use snap caps for teaching people the proper firearm procedures and techniques.

I have snap caps for most of the calibers I own. Not all, but most.
