Tonight I was at work - the only person working at the store - and we were robbed by an individual tonight...
My workplace is located in San Jose, CA. The area that our business is in is near I live and grew up. It's a pretty tame area and is not known for crime. It's located on a usually busy road.
I was with two clients at a desk. I was the only person working, and in comes a guy. He has gloves on, a hood, his faced was covered to the bridge of his nose and he had some kind of towel or cloth covering his arms. He walked straight up to me and said "Give me the cash". I gave him the cash box - little did he know that there was about $20 inside. He turned around and walked out while saying that there were three more people outside. All I could see was that he was Black, around 5'9" and on the thin side.
What are your thoughts, and what would you have done or what could you have done to prepare for this situation?
It's really frustrating to know that even in an area like mine - which I consider to be a relatively safe suburban community - that there are so many restrictions on what we can do to protect ourselves and property (including businesses).
