    You can borrow his gun and he can borrow yours as long as you guys are legally able to possess firearms. Thats the risk you take but you say you know him so it is up to you.

    To borrow a handgun the borrower needs an HSC and I believe there is a 30 day limit. Not sure if there is a limit on long guns. Check the DOJ website. I think thats where I read the info before.

        either start being proactive or leave the state. The longer you're here, and waiting for bills to pass, the less rights you will have.

          ok only concern that I would have would be the taking your friends handgun out of state. Say you get popped by CHP on the way back into Cali. Dont take this as gospel and I dont have time to read the law's right now, but I could see questions being raised about bringing a handgun not registered to you into the state, questions being raised about importation of a handgun not on the approved safe list (since your not the owner).... yadda yadda etc etc. IMHO not worth it.
