What gun are you referring to? This thread was about begonias, as I recall.

I have no idea anymore, begonias, pansies, glassy winged sharpshooters.... I need to sit down and try and figure out which door I came and which door takes me out....

have you checked the c&r list? I do not have a copy with me but there are machine guns on the c&r list

If the gun isn't NFA registered it doesn't matter...

Back in the '80s a guy I worked for told me his brother-in-law had a full auto Thompson. I told him WOW, thats a beautiful gun, but tell his BIL thats it's illegal to own.

A couple of months later he asks if I'd like to see it. He brought with him to the shop. Curious, I took a look at the Thompson. Turns out it was one of those cheap "Commando" semi-auto Thompson clones.

I told him what it actually was, that it was NOT a MACHINE GUN and that they were legal to own. Didn't seem to matter to him 'cause it still looked like a tommy gun - AND THAT'S WHAT COUNTS!!!!!

No. It would have to have been manufactured legally before 1986 and registered as such before then.

The last amnesty for NFA firearms was at the end of 1968 for weapons that were never registered with the ATF by either a manufacturer/purchaser or importer. Most of these amnesty weapons were USGI souvenirs. Many of them were deactivated / dewatt, but since they still had NFA paperwork could be made functional by paying the tax and informing the ATF.

Update:

Received word from the assistant to the executor that a complete firearms list is being created. When I have that list I will post it on Calguns as well as photos of the aforementioned items of interest. Items include muliple pistols,rifles and from what I understand, boxes and boxes of loose 'stuff'.

Update on the Thompson: Information I received this morning was that it is a registered (Form 4 on file ) Auto Ordnance of Healy, NY Model 1927A1 Semi-Automatic Carbine with accessories. I do not know the date of manufacture. More on the Thompson as I receive it. It is currently being held in protective custody until a legal transfer can occur.

There are a few military rifles in the collection including 2 registerd AR15's, Eagle and DPMS, the receivers have been stripped out and the uppers, buttstocks, LPK's will be offered for sale.

I believe there is also a M1A and M1 carbine. More on those rifles when I receive additional information from the executor.
