I'd consider all of the suggestions except the surrender... Can't it be registered as an NFA weapon once it leaves the state?

    Even a non-op theater one:

I'd really consider contacting one of those sellers to see what options would be should this turn out to be the real deal.

Jeez!! Did you catch the PRICE on that thing?? Even if I won the lottery and moved outta state, I'd be hard-pressed to spend that kinda bread. Now, if it came with a tank of the same era...

If you find that you need to destroy or remove the receiver from this state, I remember seeing dummy thompson recievers on either cheaperthandirt or the sportsmansguide. Might be worth checking into.

Are you sure its not a FA thompson?

Could it be an NFA item?

(I believe possibly former CHP owned from WW2 times) Now I know the gun needs to be surrendered to law enforcment and obviously he had owned it prior to the ban but didn't want to let it go. What will happen to it after it is surrendered? Will it be destoyed at the local PD level or sent off to DOJ to meet it's eventual end? I have asked to take photos during the actual surrender and will post them here if anybody is interested.

There are people that handle the liquidation of estates, specifically those who may have firearms issues. You can contact Mr. Michel who may also know additional info.

There was a time about 40 years ago when they(the ATF) adopted an amnesty program for a short while that allowed people in possession of unregistered automatic weapons to pay the 200 dollar tax and have it owned legally provided that they weren't a felon and could own a firearm legally. That time has long past come and gone. Today, any full auto weapon regardless of what state it resides in or who's possession it's in that was never registered, IS contraband, plain and simple.

To obey the laws of the land, or not to obey? That is the question.

+1 on there is nothing good to say about this.

+1 on Lawyer up and shut up.

This is why gun bans are so stupid. Good honest law abiding citizens like yourself can "technically" one day become felons. The law/law-enforcers will not be lenient on you or your friends wife. They see you as a felon just like any other felon/murdering-gangster/child-molester, etc.

I remember Condeleeza Rice said her father protected their family from the KKK with unregistered guns. I betcha the KKK police chief would loved to have book Condeleeza's father on weapon charges.

Be careful, the Ku CLux Klan Department of Justice of California is watching.

Why are you even posting about this on the Net?
                            The gun never existed.

What gun are you referring to? This thread was about begonias, as I recall.
