Maybe try a fresh set of batteries?

Need more info.... Will the handle turn and set the bolts and just not stay in the locked position or is it that the bolts will not extend at all? Do the bolts set and you just don't here the set pin drop and lock the plate....

Did your handle drop when it's open. Look on the bottom ledge of the door. There is a lever with a wheel that must be elevated so you can close the door or move the locking lever.

First, DO NOT CLOSE IT until you make sure the lock is not malfunctioning. Also, you should probably find and write down your lock's overide combo. You should find it behind the interior door skin. Carefully take it off and look for some numbers written on the steel door. Try them and make sure they work before you lock your safe.

honestly, I have come across more kooky people/thieves/liars that say God bless in their conversation. not knocking that poster, and I am a Catholic. but, got burned for 13k by a guy that filed bankruptcy 13x, who always said God bless, and the stories go on on and on and on

I wonder if he meant to post that in the thread about the NRA sending a statue that was made in China to a new life member . In any case, the Lazy C's response was hilarious.

With the door open, remove that battery wait 5 min and put the battery back in and then test the system with the door open. If this does not reboot the system, then read the maneul and call the manufactor Monday

I've done you a huge favor and have highlighted the hidden clue that mjk280 was so kind to provide. It has to be one of those pressed hang on walls thingys that is behind your door skin obstructing you bolts from closing!!!
If your bolts are retracted with the handle turned all the way to the right (clock-wise) and you're stating that the handle will now not turn to the left (counter clock-wise) I don't believe that it has anything to do with the electronic keypad. I don't believe your model has a throw lever with a roller on it that is located on the bottom of the door, but you can check for one. This lever, that is on Cannons C-Series and up, allows the bolts to automatically be thrown closed once the door is closed by coming into contact with the frame. I could be wrong and maybe they have started installing this feature on their entry model safes. If your safe does not have one of these levers then it is something mechanical with the bolt system. Your keypad is only required to be activated to retract the bolts by turning the handle to the right (clock-wise). Give these guys a call today and see if Miles is available to explain your problem to: U.S. Safe Company at 951-461-6994. They are a store front for Cannon Safes.
For what it is worth, Cannon C-Series and up are manufactured in sanberdo and all others are made overseas.

did the battery thing. no bueno. no contact on door to auto throw the bolts. safe works in all aspects EXCEPT the bolts won't remain extended.... turn the handle and you open it back up. is there some code that locks it? or just turn the hand wheel?

Those damn electronic locks. Hope it all works out for you. There is something to be said for the simplicity of the "old fashioned" dial.
