If the UMP whatever doesn't have a happy switch I'd rather have a pistol. I'm not sure the LAX police having a full auto firearm is such a good idea.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

Well it wasn't that long ago that a few of the LAX police were caught on tape screwing around off campus. It made the news. I think even the chief lost his job I don't remember. LAPD busted them as I recall.

How many OIS have been on the news and in the papers where a hundred plus rounds were fired and the suspect was wounded? Now do that again in a crowded airport with FA firearms.

In this day of hard economic times many PD's have reduced training.

If the officers have reduced training, I'd rather them have a long gun with a red dot than a pistol!

Actually reminds me of a story -- one instructor I trained with who does a lot of shooting packages for .mil units said he has run across many poorly trained soldiers who thought that their Aimpoints on their M4s were rear peep sights to be used in conjunction with their front sight posts!!

Why carry a handgun caliber weapon when you can carry a rifle caliber.
I guess the CDI factor got his mind messed up. Just shows a lack of understanding on his part!/

LAX is the largest terrorist target in LA County.

If we believe we should all have FA firearms, I don't see why LAX PD shouldn't have them.

Does anyone know if they are full auto? I've seen full auto look alikes in LEO hands many times and they were semi's.

                      Oddjob, they are FA.

Randy, get your facts straight. The actions of a dozen (out of nearly 500 officers) does not reflect that of the majority, but then again LAPD had rampart right? And it was Ch 4, not LAPD. And the chief retired of his own volition approximately 2 years afterwards.

But then again, they only train on a monthly basis and are the biggest target this side west of the Mississippi.

+1, I believe that alot of taxpayers $$$$ get wasted by departments. Not 100% effecient in spending VS what we as the community get out of it.

What if armed civilains had stepped in during the nh shootout? By armed civies, I don't mean one or two guys with pistols. That last shootout ended up in a residential neighborhood if I remember right. Criminals love it in kommifornia. The population is loaded with "helpless sheeps"

Excuse me, I should have posted if I remember correctly. It sounds like you know. What did exactly did happen? Were there any watch commanders or officers of authority let go becuse of this? A Lt or Captain? It was a few years ago and I didn't give it that much attention. As far as the Chief leaving I guess I merged the stories together my apologies.
