We used to go up there shooting all the time back in the 80's and early 90's because we belong to the private camp ground Montain Lakes thats up there but there were to many idiots out there with no respect for other peoples safty that were shooting while your setting up targets and like the other guys were saying about you could hear bullets blazing over your head, I haven't been back in some time but I hear its pretty nice now, I think I will check it out next time I go camping.

I used to go to Lytle all the time. Enjoyed it even with the gangbangers and knuckleheads. What soured me is when law enforcement decided to have check points to search your vehicle to make sure that none of your guns were loaded. They claimed that there was an influx of automatic weapons being shot there so they had the right. They never explained to me what one thing had to do with the other in fact they were getting angry with me. That was my final trip there.

First spot to the left after the road turned to dirt, yep...

Good times were had by all. My friends and I never ran into gang bangers or anything (late 80's) but then we never shot on the weekends.

The last time I shot at Lytle creek was in the mid to late 70's, There where a few goof balls but not what some of you guys are describing. Left the Inland Empire for the very low desert and never returned to Lytle Creek.

I went once in the early 90s and never went back. Much like many have already said, bullets whizzing by and lots of gang bangers being the geniuses that they are. The trunk next to us was hit twice in about 2 minutes and that was it for me. We got the hell out of there. When we were driving away, an ambulance was rolling up.
