Don't think he is accusing him of stealing...he is pointing out that he paid for something he didn't receive, if it were me I would be just as pissed, I don't like dealing with other peoples incompetence myself..you probably wouldn't either.

He paid for it and it was given to someone else, that is theft. Even if you cannot complete the DROS you still own the firearm.

Yeah..that is true, but that hasn't been proven yet. I suspect the FFL tried to pull a fast one and got called out, the OP now has to deal with this scumbag, totally sucks but it does happen. Theft is when somebody blatantly steals something from you..this sounds more like fraud to me.

Thanks for all of the ideas and yes I asked the employee to thoroughly check all of the safes to see if my lower was there. The only lower that he said they had in safe was the exact same lower the owner tried to say was mine originally.

bear mountain guns? not bear mountain sports in bakersfield? i just want to make sure. ive never dealt with bear mountain guns but have bought/transfered 25+ firearms through bear mountain in bakersfield and would come to their defense if that is who. either way i hope it works out for you and the ffl learns how to treat people or closes his doors and gets into another line of work.
Iam a good shot. At least i think i would be. Iam a good free throw shooter.

Wow, you guys are a tough crowd, That's good to know since none of you have ever made a mistake in your entire life. The owner has already gave him a couple of boxes of ammo to show good faith that he will make it right. What else do you guys want? Every business makes mistakes, nobody is perfect. From what Ive read, the owner is making the correct steps to rectify the situation, and here you guys are flaming him. How about you guys get off of your high horse for a few minutes and wait to see an outcome. How many people on here know the horror stories of lost, misplaced, or accidentally given to someone else lowers? When the M4gery rage started, there were stories like this all over the place, and as far as I know, pretty much every single guy came away happy. Hell, that's without getting spotted a few free boxes of ammo on top of it.

FYI, ETA: I did notice that its the old school CGN'ers who said "wait and see and work it out", while its a bunch of newer members who say "flame him". . ."this scumbag". . . . Im personally wondering if this is an indicator of the type of people of are coming here now, or if its just a age factor. Kudos to those of you (K5, DB2, Randy, California Liberal) who recommend restraint.

                OP:
Unfortunately after talking with a few other locals the owner does not have a good reputation for making things right or getting them right for that matter.
Hey, if he makes it right, make sure you give him back those boxes of FREE ammo he gave you too, because as you stated, he has a reputation for not trying to make things right. Personally, in my opinion, Exercise some patience here, you've got 30 days from the start of the DROS, there are a lot of mitigating factors here, so relax and let the guy try and make it right before you flame him to death. If you end up having a bad experience and he doesn't make it right, then start making calls. Walking in with a list of numbers saying "if you don't get my lower back im calling ATF, DEA, FBI, DOJ, PETA, NAMBLA, NAACP, and everyone else, is only making you look forward to a even longer wait for your lower. Imagine once the .Gov gets involved, how much longer your wait is going to be. You will get to see your new toy in a few months or so if thats the case. Then you really will have a reason to whine/female dog/moan/complain/gripe.

                Just my Humble Opinion.

I've made a number of mistakes in my life and in my business. When I did, I looked the person in the eye, told them I screwed up, and that it would be fixed by x day. And then kept my word. I expect others to treat me the same way.

People understand that. They do not understand getting jerked around and not being told exactly what is going on.

"Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook Pegler

unfortunately, not everyone is like you. Too many people will tell you anything just to get you off the phone or out the door, to deal with the problem later, or hope it goes away somehow. They might even think that they are being truthfull to you when they say that, but they seem to be unable to keep their word.

What do you mean that I have 30 days?

Other than the obvious reasons I am concerned that the dealer does not care about my situation which infuriates me; not the fact the he screwed up. As I stated his faults began when he failed to call an inform me that he had received the lower. From there is was the battle I had with him to prove that the CMMG lower was not mine. Then when he said he would call the guy and offered some ammo I replied by saying that as long as its here in 10 days, no problem. The flames began to ignite when his employees searched the safes and could only find the same CMMG lower that the owner tried to pawn off on me in the first place. Really, I don't wan tot burn this guy unless on Monday he actually does not have my lower and he failed to inform me of making arrangements to remedy the situation. I am just looking for options should the situation end up being worse case.

The DROS and DOJ approval is good for 30 days. After that, you would had to re-submit.
