Hypothetical scenario:

Wife is pregnant. When she gives birth, she stays in the hospital for the standard two nights. During that time the husband is also staying in the room, watching over his wife and newborn child. Can the husband consider the wife's hospital room his domicile? And more importantly, can he legally keep a firearm in his room during this time?

You're on hospital property, but I would think if you had a CCW or were law enforcement personnel, the law would apply differently to you.

I would want to enjoy the birth of your new son or daughter.
So many bad scenarios from carrying in the hospital.
You want the best for both of them, might just make things real bad.
Imagine if your gun is seen by a nurse? What do you think will be the reaction?
No explaining that away, they see too much trauma in their lives.
I would personally not do it. You might end up not being able to enjoy the birth of your new child.

Just cause you are sleeping somewhere does not make it your domicile.
Staying overnight in a hospital is more renting care then a room....hence the hospital has the right to kick you out for no reason at any time.

I don't think anything crazy has ever happened in LnD or PP where my mom works...you will be safe.

Hospitals would be a prime target for terrorism, either foriegn on domestic. I'd steer clear of taking a gun in with you unless there is a real and credible threat. That would be a BIG can of worms.

We pat down everyone and walk them through a metal detector, with their shoes going through an x-ray machine. Many TSA screeners get their training at hospitals.






Every hospital restricts access to L&D floors, not to say that there aren't bad folks that get through, they are the most secure in the hospital. If staff sees you packing in your room you will most definitely be asked to leave and will be talking with the police.

i work in a hospital, there are tons of police officers in and around hospitals, as well as tons of security guards. I would not be worried about needing a gun there.

While this is true, I worked, as a student, in a hospital where a man walked in with a rifle and held the ED hostage for several hours. Not to say the officers/security weren't doing their jobs, but some things do slip through the cracks. Not that I would condone bringing yours in with you.
