My grandfather told me that during the depression era, hunters would pour melted wax over the birdshot loads and shoot deer with them.
I tried it once with a 20 guage and it made a slug size hole in an old refrigerator door at ten yards. Of course the "slug" broke up after going through the door.
Great way to give an intruder a wax job.
