Yep, if you rent a bay area you can do pretty much what you want. Just no steel core ammo. You have to either bring your own targets or rent so you can set up the range as you wish. The weather is great right now. The summer time can be a bit hot! Also, cell phones don't work up there, no reception. Have fun!

Sweet. Thanks for all the info.I appreciate it from everyone. It's obvious a private range is the only way to go.

I would second this notion. Renting a private bay is well worth it. It makes for a nice day at the range.

The range is closed on Tuesdays except for law enforcement.

I go there often since it's less than 15 miles from where I live. Like everyone has suggested, go with the private bay if you can. Sometimes on slow days, they'll even offer you a discounted rate on them. Make sure you call as soon as possible to reserve a private bay.

                - No steel ammo
                - No toilets, only port-a-potties.

My friend ran out of .40S&W ammo so he bought some ammo straight from the range office at Burro; the ammo was Wolf. We were confused ourselves, so we asked the range officer and he said that it's okay to shoot.

I did a google search and came up with this: The .40S&W Wolf pistol ammo is okay to shoot because it's copper jacketed projectiles; it's not steel jacketed. I'm guessing this is not the case for the typical Wolf ammo in rifle calibers.

The only Wolf that I've seen has a copper jacket on the slug, only the steel casing is apparent, but that doesn't mean the slug doesn't have a steel core.

                        +1 on the Private Range
I was on Tac1 C a couple of weeks ago. You can also park/drive your vehicle right up to the range so you can haul the stuff you need right up to the line.

The private range sounds like the way to go, what is the cost of the private range? Do they charge different rates midweek?

rates are $20 per person, and i think a minimum of 4 people, so $80 minimum. Then each additional person is still $20. same rates all the time, although some have posted that they give discounts on slower days? probably should call in advance to check.

Is it just a minimum of $80 for up to 4 people?
What if the two of us want a private range and are willing to cough up the $80?
