I'm stoopid... how can I become a private security contractor?

Hey guys. Some say I'm insane, or at least retarded, but I don't care... I want to be a private security contractor in A-Stan or IRAQ (or USA even) what does it take, training/schooling-wise to become such a contractor??

I have been to a Skip Barber driving school, and I've competed in numerous autocross and track events in both dedicated race cars and street cars so I can drive pretty well (in my opinion anyway) I grew up on dirt roads and have been sliding around for years.

I have also been an avid shooter since I was 8 years old so I know my way around just about any weapon system out there (except stuff like M249/M240/M2HB) I can strip/repair/clean the FAL, AK, SKS, AR15, M1A and Glock 17/19, 1911 and Sig 226 and Im confident I can quickly learn others.

Maybe I'm delusional, but I think it would be fun and exciting, not to mention profitable. HOW can I go about becoming a contractor? My prefered roll would be as a driver...

I'm sure that it is easier to become a driver (like you are saying), but from what I have heard most drivers are not allowed to carry.

I'm also pretty sure that most security contractors are looking for a certain type of military experience.

You are cracking me up Jay, you need military combat service first. SOMETIMES for certain contracts they will hire those with only LE experience, but that's rare.

Edited to add: Well, they are hiring two new Helo pilots right now, to replace the ones KIA. Can you fly a chopper?

I would be interested as well, just to get out of sight of my wife (LOL) for a few years. What would be the age restriction? I have 2 years of combat experience, I speak fluently 3 languages (not the arabic) and I also have great people skills and work well under stress. But I am 44, so should I forget about it?

Nearly all of the "private contractors" require military, and in many cases, special forces, experience. They will also require you to be in top physical condition..........no back problems.

For example, here is what Blackwater requires as a minimum:

General Contract Requirements:
Must be willing and able to deploy for 6 months.
Must be a U.S. Citizen, proof of citizenship is required.
Weight must be proportionate to height.
Must maintain a neat and clean appearance.
Must be in good health and pass a physical test.
Most positions require ability to obtain/maintain a secret or higher clearance.
No history of major illness or mental disorder.
Must have an Honorable Discharge and DD-214.
No felony, violent crimes, spouse or child abuse convictions(NO WAIVERS)
No personal bankruptcy or significant credit problems with past seven (7) years.

I saw an ad on craigslist a week or so ago. They were hiring LEO's with 3yr exp., paying 120/yr in Af, and 135/yr in Iraq.

See, I'd do it for 1/2 that or less... Oh well now I'm depressed cuz I can't go get shot at too.

I liked the idea of being a contractor cuz you can get up and go home/quit anytime you want, as opposed to military where you are stuck for your time-in...

Awhile back (was it Dynegy??) that had embedded software engineering positions open for CPUs I know.

Apparently some hardware/firmware needs on-site customization, working with "the Customer". Surveillance? Anti-IED? Dunno...

It was over $300/hr, supposedly in Green Zone. Project at least 1/2 year duration, 1 wk paid travel home every 2 mos.

That's $52K/month, with apparently very favorable tax treatment.

If I didn't have GF, cats & mom here I'd be over there in a wink. Probably less risk from mortars than accidents on Hwy 87 anyway.
