I actualy enjoy cleaning my firearms - it's a zen excercise for me.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

It's not so fun when you've experienced cleaning a rifle the Marine Corps way

Oddly enough, yes. I love cleaning my guns. I even like cleaning other people's guns (as long as I get to help make them dirty ). I get to learn how they operate, and I end up with a nice and shiny gun!

I've put off many assignments and housework because it was gun cleaning time.

I clean my guns after every use, even the AK. Hate doing it....

Call it a jarhead habit, but I clean and scrub until the Q-tip comes out as clean as it went in. Thank the Great Cosmic Muffin for piston ARs!

One of the benefits of belonging to a club is that I usually clean my rifles at the shooting bench while talking to other club members if any are present.

It IS satisfying. I don't know why, but for some reason, it is. Maybe because it's like a mini-restoration to the mint condition that you purchased it in?

I strongly dislike cleaning guns. We finally cleaned our hunting rifles after about two seasons. I still have shotguns that have been shot here and there over the last few years that need to be cleaned as well. The only gun I clean after everytime I shoot it is my Muzzleloader--because I have to. I've slowly been buying boresnakes for the stuff I shoot on a normal basis, makes thing's nice and simple.
