so what type of gun finish do you preffer ?

I personally like the nickel or steel on black finish because of its slick and it complaiments corners and lines. I honestly have steered away from all black finishes.

    See for yourselves.

So what type of finish do you guys like ? and does your current collection reflect on it?

I prefer non-shiny stuff. Not sure why.

I have a couple stainless guns - S*W 686, Mini-14, and a 2-tone Kimber, although I plan on painting the top half of my Kimber black.

Maybe it's because if it's stainless, I feel the need to polish it, and it can never be polished enough, and it will get scratched too easily...darn OCD man. It's a killer.
    This is my sig line.

It depends on the type of gun. I have a few nice shotguns that are high gloss wood and deep shiny bluing. For my tacti-cool guns, i like flat finishes, or painted flat/satin finish.

Yeah for tactical stuff, I prefer flat black. I don't want to give away my location by reflecting lights.

For AK's gold plate all the way.

          For FAL's Black Stoving.

For other weapons, mellonizing, hard chrome, NP3, hard anodizing (for aluminum), bluing, color case hardening and parkerizing all have their place.

i prefer the functionality of blued or matte, but certain guns are just sexy in stainless or nickel.

It depends on what I'm using it for. I like stainless firearms in general because they don't need a finish and look pretty good with a matte treatment. For open carry, I'm more partial to black or other dark colored guns, as long as it isn't very reflective (brushed or polished blueing is out).

For CCW, something dark colored with good rust inhibiting properties. I'm checking out the Cera-Plate (whenever it's done) and have worked with NP3 in the past, but thought the latter was too slippery.

Melonite QPQ (like tennifer) had a nice matte finish that was elegant. It could be robust, but the pistol I had it done to didn't get man handled at all.

                    Wood, or metal?

I like flat black on combat weapons (metal). Wood? It does not glow in the dark.

You better get more diverse in the color spectrum or the NAACG might be at your door..

I'm a sucker for a pretty polished blue with a nice wood stock on rifles and shotguns. I own a mixture of finishes though. *shrug*
