Now I mentioned this to a friend and he thinks I should have let the range "eat" their mistake. I think my integrity is worth more than the 40 bucks I would have saved.

    What say you, fellow calgunners?

I would make it right. Those ranges aren't exactly profit businesses. We don't need to lose more supporters of the sport.

I've been there a few times with Jackson Arms, and I'll always tell them if they missed something at the register.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

doing right is the most self centered thing to do...$$$$$ I can earn... but how do I salvage my self respect...

I bought a camera at Costco a couple years ago. When I got home, I realized there were two cameras in the box (they had to get it from the back and brought out the shipping box, which had the camera boxes inside, they didnt realize there was more than one). I was tempted to keep it, but my wife (who is a much better person than I am ), said "Absolutely not, you're taking that back!" I'm very glad I did, it would bother me if I hadnt. It is stealing after all.

By the way, I dont believe in Karma either. The clerk didnt even say thanks when I returned it! But it was definitely the right thing to do.

Depending on the range, none I have gone to would I keep the money but from what I hear about Target masters I would definitely have to think twice, If it was Los Altos no way would I have kept the money.

If you overpaid by $40 would you want the range to call you and tell you to stop in when you're in the area and get $40 back?

For me, it depends on the range. Three times i have been charged too much, everytime on the same item, how can a $21 item plus tax = $29................each time i forget and im sure they are pocketing the extra...............so yeah i would say screw my local range.

But, if the range has never given you any problems then yes its the right thing to do and let them know of their error.

I'd say you did the right thing in letting them know.

I have to remind them I don't have a membership anymore. But that's just cause I don't want to be banned from the best bay area indoor range .

So what did they say when you called them and made right? They should comp you some free range time for the honesty.
