Few tips for when at the range.

Here's a good tip when going to a shooting range.

READ THE RULES AND OBEY THEM!!!

If you have a question ask.

That cuts down on most problems.

Actually i work part time at this range, but was not working when this happened. Just enjoying some much needed trigger time.

Don't point the weapon at anything you don't intend to destroy.

Unfortunately my ex-wife doesn't go shooting with me...

BTW, I never knew about the flags, I usually just use a spent cartridge...

Heck I was shooting with Bigjon and he was using .308 shells as ear plugs....

This would be a great thread if the idiots that break the rules read this forum. I get swept regularly, both shooting & working, it gets old real fast; especially when you get swept and can see the tint of copper... I've tossed people off the range on more than one occasion.

Took two girls to a range.
Watched them like hawk. Got distructed by one of them, other turned around with loaded gun pointed on me. Lesson learned:
Never ever have more than one in the same time

Here's a good tip for when you're shooting a semi-auto at the range: Don't wear a shirt that buttons up around the neck, like a golf shirt, dress shirt or v-neck. I have twice seen people on the line doing the "Someone get it off me" dance - hot brass ejected from their gun into their shirt. Ouch. That's not the dance you want to be doing with a loaded gun in your hands, and in fact a friend witnessed an accidental discharge in the exact same scenario.

Wear boots to the range after it rains or if it seems a little more humid than usual. I learned that the hardway the first time I went to Metcalf when the ground was muddy and not dusty. (Hey, that line of rocks paved towards the targets what your tax money is going to, might as well use it and spare yourself the trouble of cleaning your shoes)

My daughters get mad at me because I will only take 1 of the 3 to the range or varmint shooting at a time. It's a habit learned long ago.
