Few tips for when at the range.

For some reason this seems to be break the rules week down at the local range.

So heres a few tips and quick review to keep everyone standing at the firing line.

DO NOT load firearms ANYWHERE except at the firing line and keep the muzzle down range when doing so.

When taking a firearm off of the line empty/remove the magazine and lock the action open before doing anything else and keep the muzzle pointed down range when doing so.

Finally, KEEP THE DAMN MUZZLE POINTED DOWN RANGE.

I have been flagged twice this week with a loaded firearm, once at my head.

Good tips, hopefully everybody here knows the basics... since it doesn't get more basic than those.

The only time I've gotten swept at the range was at tacrifle by a first-timer. Good thing I'd just watched the rifle get cleared from over his shoulder... but still. Sheesh. Oaklander got the same nice down-the-barrel view I did on that one.

I guess it's a little too easy to forget when you're doing action shooting. Still warned him to be more careful, though.

Here's a good tip when going to a shooting range.

READ THE RULES AND OBEY THEM!!!

If you have a question ask.

That cuts down on most problems.

      Good luck
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.

The removal of magazine might not be that smart with a fixed mag OLL rifle.

As it creates a Assault Weapon.

            Keep this in mind Cowboys.

If you take a fixed-mag OL rifle to Chabot, the RSO requests that you either:
1)break it open and remove the bcg so he can make sure there's no round in the chamber
              2) (easier) just keep your follower clean and lock the bolt back so that he can see the chamber and follower.

With my fixed mag OLL, I just lock back the bolt and leave the charging handle in the rearward position as an additional visual clue.

Why doesn't everyone with an OLL just buy a little $2 Chamber flag and just stick it in there?

Yellow flag goes in the chamber for whatever rifle I have on the line, moving to the line, and during cease fires.

Don't point the weapon at anything you don't intend to destroy.

time for my three minute practice sessions already?

They've never given me any trouble at chabot when I just lock the bolt back on my fixed mag AR. They know there's a lot of rifles with fixed mags out there.
