Have you ever stapled your finger?

Was talking with a buddy and somehow we started talking about taking a staple in the finger while at the range. I have tacked myself a few times and was wondering how many of you have done the same.

nope, I use the paper plate + black sharpie + tape method at my range.

I have cut off part of the tip of my finger with a bread knife though...

I've never stapled anything, but those push pins at Iron Sights can be bloodthirsty sometimes.

Once, at Coyote Point. The targets are mounted on large sheets of heavy cardboard hanging on two solid wires, a bit thicker than coat hanger wire. Since the wires don't support the cardboard much you have to support it yourself while stapling up. Well, I put the support hand in the wrong spot once..... Makes you learn really quick.

Didn't help that I'd randomly installed a strip of the longest staples my gun will shoot. Short stubbier ones might not even have gone through the cardboard and still would have held the target up. Either way, learned my lesson.

Made the finger tip swell up really badly for a few hours, I guess tissue doesn't like having metal slammed through it quickly. Fun for the whole family!

Yeah, that too is something that I've only done once, and learned a valuable lesson that has lasted a lifetime!

Haven't stapled myself but I have banded myself (Automatic Banding machine when I work for LA TIMES Newspaper)

And I have come very close to cutting my 4 fingers off on my left hand in a horizontal band saw when I was young (19). And my right palm has a nasty scar from a Glass Coke Bottle (showing my age) went through it.

Also have a wound mark just below my navel from where a .308 came back and bit me.

And another scar in my left temple where another .308 bullet bounced off my skull from a hunting accident that left a dent.

SO I have a few marks of life.

I can't recall ever seriously hurting my finger besides a few burns and minor cuts. While using a knife... it slipped and went into the wedge between my thumb/forefinger. It went deep but it didn't splice it open so I never got stitches.

Actually... when it first went it... it was like one of those commercials from mikes hard lemonade. It was more of a i'm annoyed but still calm "awww god damnit...." then i grabbed a towel wrapped it... it didn't really start to hurt until like 3 hours later. I think I'm stuck with this scar for the rest of my life.

I have never done it at the range but I am a contractor and had brad nails, zip screws, staples, and various other weird stuff go though my hand and fingers. Sheet metal cuts are the most common. Most of it was done while I was an apprentice and I learned what not to do.
