Uberti Lever Action Replicas - Quality?

I was at Turners today stocking up on .40 S&W to celebrate AB 962 day (mourn is more like it), and saw these sweet replica lever action rifles made by Uberti. They had various models in .22lr, .357 magnum, .45, and a variety of lengths from rifle to carbine, round and hex barrels. They were new production, but the steel was treated to look aged. Anyone have one of these here? How do you like it? Any issues or regrets?

They were asking like $830-$870 for them. Seems a bit steep for a replica maybe.

Most of the Winchester replicas are by Uberti

    They make the
    Henry
    Win 1866
    1873
    1876 (I think)
They are pretty good and generaly one of the few choices available to the discriminating cowboy shooter. I have the 1873 model rifle which I recommend because:
It has a steel frame which is stronger than the brass Henry or 66
It has the Kings Patent safety connector which requires the lever to be fully
closed before it can be fired. Rossi offers a Winchester 1892 replica which is very good too.

I know they make good pistols, but I've never heard anyone comment on their rifles.

Also, usually when someone purchases a Uberti it's for SASS or something similar which means a lot of gunsmithing to get the firearm functioning for competition.

Yeah, I'm not into cowboy shooting, though that might change in the future perhaps. I was thinking about getting one just for plinking and maybe as a pack gun on wilderness trips since they're light and compact.

Always wanted a good lever action, they're just fun ya know.

My favorite rifle I've ever owned or shot was my Winchester model '94 30-30. Unfortunately I pawned it for some cash and never picked it up.

Funny, I've been looking into getting a short lever action in .44 mag. Good to know Uberti is a decent one.

The Turners Levers That I have seen are made by Chiappa firearms, in Italy. They are Puma formally made in Brazil. The quality seems good. I want a 16 inch in 357 mag. The ones you saw may not be Uberti.

I have a Rossi 92 16 inch SS Trapper in .357. It's an excellent gun with a strong action. Check out Stevesgunz.com, guy down in Texas named Steve Young they call the Rossi 92 specialist. He customized my 92 for me and does very nice work. Check it out:

I've got a Rossi in .357 that I've had since 1982. Absolutely reliable and I have put thousands of rounds through it. I had a GS trim the 20" barrel and mag tube to 16.25".

My Black Powder guru buddy has a Uberti 1873 repop in .45, with the 26" octogonal barrel.

I checked it out before he fired it, and the barrel rifling was some of the nicest I've seen. I don't know the exact model, but the thing had a pistol grip with very nice checkering.

He reported that he's fired it with smokeless and triple-7, and it's more accurate with the smokes handloads he used, even though his Triple-7 loads used the same cast bullet.
The way some gunshop clerks spout off, you'd think that they invented gunpowder and the repeating rifle, and sat on the Supreme Court as well.

I have two Uberti 1860-Henry. One a 20" barrel carbine, the other 24" rifle. Both chambers 44-40 and shoot like a dream. On the rifle I have a marble tang sight that shrinks the group to <3" at 100yrd off bench(which is the best I can do w/ any iron sight anyway.) I believe the rifle shoots better than me. I highly recommend Italian rifles: Uberti or Pedersoli in particular.

If I want a Henry, I go to Henry.

I buy one for every grandchild I have (plus my own collection).

                          Big fan of the Henry.

That kind of price sounds like Chiapa

Rossi used to make sweet little 1892's for Legacy/Puma. Now they are made by Chiapa(italian) and much more expensive than the rougher Rossi's. I'm not saying they aren't worth the price, but just exhibit better fit and finish than the Rossi's.

I have a modern Henry .22 Large Loop carbine, love it. All American made and the smoothest lever rifle out of the box I have ever owned. Best company for customer service I have found. Email them and the President of the company gets back to you in very quick time.
Pretty sure the Henry rifles mentioned earlier in the thread mean Italian made historical Henry replicas , (i.e. no fore arm), not the modern Henry rifles made in NY/NJ.
